i am getting a 91 gt in the spring and im beginning to put the combo together..my one friend is helping me with the build so it should be a little easier on the pocket.. between us we got a 351w block, c4 trans, and ford 9" all for free.. the car we are also getting for free with no drivetran.. this is going to be a a strip car that will see the streets once and awhile... so i must have some street manors.. my question is that i want to through alot of juice at it so it can be a 10sec car.. what would u suggest on kits, compression, carb or efi, and rear end gear

if you are spraying to 10's you are definatly going to need alot of strong parts. forged bottom end goods heads and to stay somewhat cheap just go carbed. its going to take alot to get into the 10's.

This is a hard question to answer. What are your plans for the motor? Bottom end? Heads, cam, intake?

I'm not a carb guy....i know very little about them but would say the cheapest and easiest way to get into the tens with a C4 car would be a forged bottom end (paricularly pistons), AFR 205's, Custom Cam, good intake (something like a torker II 351-W 2500-6500 or a Victor 351-W 3500-7500) and a good carb??

Put a call into precision industries or edge for a custom stalled converter, some 28" slicks/drag radials and some 4.10's or 4.30's. Of course 1-7/8 longtubes (minimum) 3" X pipe, 3" race bullets w/ dumps.

This should run real close to if not in the tens on motor...then you only need a modest wet/plate kit to get deep into the tens.

Take as much weight of out the car as you see fit to still maintain some street manners...but the car should still be streetable given the above combo.

I wouldn bother witht the 9 inch rear, the 8.8 will be fine. Honestly if ya want it to be cheap fast, just get a cheap stroker kit for the 351, and port the heads yourself, if this car is just for fun, it doestn have to be perfect, why spend 1500 on aluminum heads and crap, if its just a fun strip car. And then just dump a **** load of nitrous on it, the c4 can be built very tough for cheap, strip the car to nothing and have at it

Ahh,I can help you out on this one, easy :)

"Budget" combo:
Vic Jr. heads,Jr. intake (port match to Fel-Pro #1262),custom solid flat tappet cam (OTS are harder to find in a nitrous grind for flat cams),and a plate kit (200Hp should do it) on top of a 1" open spacer.Bottom end can use the stock crank,H-beam rods, and a good forged piston.

If your ok spending a little more,go with TFS "R" heads, solid roller cam (or could use a hyd. roller if less maintnace is desired),Vic Sr intake (port match to 1262R intake gasket),and a two stage plate or for another couple hundred a fogger set-up (300-350Hp) with a burst plate under carb.Short block would be forged crank, alum. rods, and a custom piston. You could also use H-beam rods with ARP L19 bolts, and piston can be OTS (though you probably wont get exactly what you want).Race fuel only 13.5:1-14:1 compression.

351-380ci 750cfm carb
381-399ci 850cfm carb
400+ci 950cfm carb

You could also run the engine on methanol if you will have a seprate fuel tank for the nitrous enrichment fuel.

edit: Actualy, the 2nd one at 400ci would probably run into a 9.80 or so :D
