So I got my NX plate kit put on by this shop in town and this guy knows his mustangs and his made records with his cobra. I have an auto and he said it was ok to spray out of the hole so I have done it 4 times and it is amazing. Now on another forum they pretty much told me I was stupid for spraying out of the hole. So I think I am just going to keep spraying out of the hole because this guy knows his S*** but need peoples thoughts.

Out the hole as in what RPM?

If you are spraying under 3k it gets risky as far as a nitrous backfire. If you literally mean stomping the gas and spraying off idle, it's seriously a miracle you have not blown your intake to pieces yet.

Rule of thumb is DO NOT spray under 3,000 RPM due to not having enough velocity in the intake charge to carry the nitrous/fuel charge fast enough to the combustion chamber, leaving the possibility for the fuel to puddle in the intake manifold, and cause a nasty backfire.

x2 on what BurningRubber said. If you are spraying under 3k rpm, sooner or later it will backfire and you will likely lose your intake manifold if not more. Get yourself an rpm window switch and set the on rpm at 3k.

Btw, nitrous is most effective when used "out of the hole".

So this is what I have been doing, I do my burn out, ride it out and before I stage it I throw it in neutral arm the switch bring it to 3k rpm floor and let out quick to clear the line and then stage, and then my nitrous is already arm so as soon as I have it at wot its on.

I was waiting to here from you. If I got a different intake manifold could I spray out of the hole or is it just that you have to spray above 3k rpm?

I have been spraying 100 shot. My tires are not liking the 410s and nitrous I have had to feather it out of the hole. Well it looks like I will flip the switch at 3000rpm. Next question if I put in a converter and different manifold on could I spray out of the hole?

Ive ran nitrous in a vast amount of my cars and sprayed out of the hole and never had a problem...Call me lucky! LOL....stock stall speed convertors too...Ran my SRT-8 Magnum that way for over a yr..100 shot..12.0@118 mph 1.80 60ft on F1 supercar street tires 32 psi in the tires...Oh yeah the car with me in it weighed 4680 lbs..it was no lite weight...:D

Sorry man, but you are begging for trouble by doing that.

It's bad enough for the engine to be free revved in neutral as it is, much less by taking a hit of nitrous while doing so. That's something that needs to be done with a load on the engine.

And I am glad that you haven't had any issues so far, but I would REALLY look into a window switch as Tim said just to be safe.

On the other hand... I bet your torque numbers are pretty impressive by spraying so low.

just really keep it above 2500 and you will be fine. too soon and you can get a nitrous backfire and see a pretty sweet fireball. but the plate kits are excellent i ran one for a while and it does a nice job of spraying in the nitrous more in a mist than most wet kits.

and if you wanna feel real ungodly torque spray a 200 shot hahaha i did it got away with it but defintely do not recommend it. lol so dont do it until you build that sucker up
