Nitrous Plate Kit Overkill?

I'm looking into going with a nitrous plate kit which fits in between the upper and lower of my intake. Some have told me it is overkill and others have told me to do it because it will be safer. Im running on a new motor so Im not planning on jetting it more than 100-150 range. Let me know what you think

Maby overkill on who your racing. I think those plates are adjustable to a 300 shot and are better because they spray direct and closer to the intake ports, less chance for puddling. I am looking towards a similar setup.

guy, whatever. Hes older than me and is in the air force and has built fail-proof motors for a couple of other kids my age(hes been around mustangs for ever and dropped a 429 in a 85 GT that runs 10.9's. Im the kid, hes prolly late 20's.

I have a NOS Big Shot system that I can adjust all the way to a 300 shot. The one I have is for a GT40 intake and I am trying to sell it! It is the system that you are talking about. I got mine at Summit

if your for spending the money thats the way to go.

and depends on how much you plan on spraying...you said 100-150

at 100....even dry kits are perfectly safe.

at 150 you want wet, and if your gonna be wet...might as well go plate , and forget that nozzle.

but thats my $.02

yea thats the only thing $$$$$. But Ive made it this far so I may have to get a plate kit. My goal is to run high 11's next year at the track after I hook up the suspension.

Get the plate.

Like the reasons above state and also it would have a more even nitrous/fuel distrobution,cylinder to cylinder,than the nozzle in the intake tracked.

I never installed it. It is BRAND new still in the original plastic. I went with the S-trim after I bought the NOS.

Better distribution is never overkill.....

Usually the plate kits only go down so far like 150 or so...

I am currently running only 75 shots on my big shot plate for holley systemax. I did that just for couple runs, but I am bumping up towards to 175 shots again. Staying with pump gas, 91-92 octane......

I got the innovate wideband o2 sensor to help me to see if its running too lean or not. I highly recommend it if pushing for extra power with nitrous. Nothing wrong with being safe.

I went only 125 shots last night and my best time was 11.981 sec @ 113.79mph. I am pretty happy about it.

I will be doing some testing and tuning for 175 shots for this coming friday. I hope to get 11.6 to 11.7 seconds

I have been researching the same topic for my 90' LX. I found out that the stock style upper intakes (TF, EDL, GT40, Cobra, et cetera) are great at flowing air, but lousy at flowing an air/fuel/N20 mixture, thus all the puddling/falling out of suspension problems. Since I have a Peroformer RPN knockoff, I think I will go with this Edelbrock kit:

PN 70057. Unfortunately it does not come with a bottle or some other stuff, but I have a bottle, lines, and other hardware from a previous system, so I will be able to mix and match if need be.

cool, u'll have to let us know how well it works.

I am pretty happy with my big shot kit.

I want to know what kind of times and how many shots are you running with on what car set up you have.
