Nitrous

Hey i have a 91 gt and right now i have cold air intake, 65mm throttle body, headers, h pipe, and flowmasters and soon have 4:10's in. Im buying a intake manifold soon and i am gettin nitrous too and i was wonderin what kind of nitrous to get....i hear compucar is really good and i want to get direct port....any help is greatly appreciated. by the way its an auto too

get the zex efi wet system part#82023 with the 150 jet you wont go wrong, that system is setup that when the system is armed that it will spary when your wot

i have a NOS dry kit on my car. it seems work good. My buddy has a zex kit on his car and that is nice too. I dont know anything about compucar though.

nitrous express efi systems are the best, as he said ^^^^^^, results are true and affirmed, im going to go with the holley wet plate efi system ajustable up to 300 hp, im going 200 tho.

i have the zex 125 dry shot and love it. went from a 12.7@108 to an 11.33@119 with the 125 jet and a 11.89 with the 75 jet. they give u a 75,100, 125 jet. Install was easy too!

Awesome times blwnstang90302! Your combo is VERY similar to what I want to run next year on my SN95 and is giving me lots of hope for great times.

Another Zex fan here. Looking for high 12s this year on the 125 shot. Install was ridiculously easy and the kit is very effective, dropping almost a second and half from my times so far on my home tuned car.

i know people get tired of hearing this but:

its depends on what you plan to do with your car?

I have used
top gun
nitrous express
compucar

if its to be street driven, and ocasionally used to run at the track...then nitrous is what ya want! Crank open a bottle, plug in your power source , and bust someones tail!

and personally think the system I liked best was the compucar "bag of nitrous"
its a dry system, its hidden(its bolted to a board in a gym bag that you can easily slip behind the passenger seat in the rear floor board, and it will net you 100 hp or so at the push of a button. It would work great with an automatic too........just remember to not engage it below 3200 rpm, and the best part with this system is you only have one solonoid, one nitrous line (no fuel line) it will get its fuel from the injectors and the temp air sensor. It has a push button mounted on a curly cord, and a power source cord that is also a curly cord that plugs into a cigerette lighter for the power source. The biggest pain is when you have to run the nylon line to the front side of your air filter, and adjust your timing.
I've personally owned three of these systems and currently own one.....once my buddys saw this system they had to have one, so I sold mine and bought another one each time. I ran my systems on my 1994 cobra (many bottles feed thru that engine) without any problems, and on my 79 LX coupe that I stuck EFI on with a 5-speed etc... My current system isnt installed yet, but if my brother in law keeps mouthin off with his "RED LINE" edition Saturn ION with supercharger.........I'll probably install it and smoke em!

Go with zex I had it before I dumped my EFI it was a really clean install took less than 2 hours and came out clean as can be.
I loved mine so much I'm going to get another zex system for my next stang.
I'm using a NOS system now on my carb and it was a real pain to install.
My buddy just put in a viper nitrous kit in his 5.0
It looks really sweet with the black bottle to.

I have another question. Would you go wet or dry with the zex kit. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both.

I have an NX wet Kit. Works Great. I ran a 14.00 @ 99MPH on motor, and a 12.35 @ 111MPH on a 150 shot on a stock AOD with stock 2.73 gears.

i like the wet system
ZEX Dry system install
ZEX Wet system install

The difference between a wet and dry setup is a dry setup only delivers the nitrous to the intake. a wet system delivers both fuel and nitrous into the intake, so with the wet system you will need to tap your fuel lines, not a big deal, it even comes with all the fittings and everything you need to install it. also if you have aftermarket fuel rails it makes it that much easier

no, don't use the "bottle in a bag" kit

it's a cool little kit, and great for street racing...but you want a kit that you arm, and has some safety features....the b.i.b. kit is just a button that you press to squirt...car doesn't even need to be started.

i prefer the safety of dry kits, if you never plan on going above 125 shot stay dry.....if you go wet, use a kit that squirts into the LOWER intake...more power , no real hazard of backfires (no more than a dry kit) but those are usually 250+ hp app's and hi dollar

well you have to use your head when using nitrous.....but I can understand it being a safty issue. I just always keep the power source un-plugged until I was ready to race, then I arm the bottle by opening it, then when I got ready to spray I'd plug in the power to the cig lighter and rev the engine a bit and hit the button to purge the system.

For your combo go with a dry kit under 150 hp. Any company is fine and you dont have to make too many adjustments to run it properly. I run a 125-150 NOS dry kit on mine, it only took an hour to install everything including routing the purge lines and buttons. I have an arming switch and a "go" buttomh. I just arm it before it I hit the line and push the go button once I hit second gear. Simple!!! Just run 92 plus octane, retard your timing 2-4 degrees, step down to a colder plug, and run at least a 155lph fuel pump and you should be fine. Nitrous is not as bad as everyone says and its worth every dollar. good luck....
