nitrous

i'm considering putting some sort of nitrous set-up on my car as my next mod. i cant afford a blower and nitrous seems to be much much cheaper. but if its that much cheaper and gives u an instant 100 horsepower of so, why dont more people use it? like it seems that more people on here have blowers instead of spray. is it bad for the car, or is it just cuz it runs out and u have to have it refilled?

I think most people are simply afraid of it. I'm one of them although I shouldn't be. Lots of safely N2o'd cars in here to prove otherwise. Also superchargers are "on" all the time. I say I'd like to have a nitrous kit, but I honestly don't know that I'd use it very often.

if u just dont put too big of a shot on it then it should be safe right? is it normally controlled by a button that u just push if ur really tryin to move? cuz i saw an episode of trucks where they hooked up a kit on a dodge ram and the button was on the throttle body and only turned on at full throttle, so then its on all the time when u need it just hit full throttle.

i love the spray cause i cant afford a blower. i think alot of people are afraid of it blowing up but i personally think i hear of blowers having more problems then sprayers

I also feel that people are just afraid to do it. Nitrous can be ran very safely and the day of the "button" is pretty much gone.

NX makes a great kit :nice: though I also like the setup of the ZEX control box.

so if buttons arent used anymore do they work like i said i saw on tv? and can anyone find where to order an nx kit for an 01 cobra? i cant find them except for the 03 cobra.

Bottles are for babies, men get BLOWN!

:rlaugh: I'm considering going nitrous on my current GT because I can't afford a supercharger and it wouldn't be a wise choice. After nirtous, I will just stop the modding(yes, it's very addictive)

I'd rather save up and get a Cobra which is already supercharged, can take more boost, T56 transmission to take the power and IRS. A much better package.

So get a Cobra then do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP9H7QkNjMM:nice:

given the choice i'd go boost because nitrous simply runs out

yeah it's fairly cheap and very effective and i've got nothing against it, but when you feel like running thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear quickly up an on-ramp and you're out of juice i'm sure it's not a good feeling.

same goes for a quiet night after work on a deserted stretch and you get the need to physically abuse your car. not that fun when that extra 100hp isn't available

for a weekend track car i'm sure it's a great choice. fill 'er up during the week, use it all on the weekend. unfortunatly i don't fall into that category. i needs muh powa available at all times

nitrous advantages compared to superchargers & turbo's:

1. much cheaper
2. much cheaper
3. and much cheaper!

Case closed. Nitrous for teh win :p

Honestly though, one full bottle is $30 and will last 10 passes at the track. You probably won't run 10 times anyway. If nitrous is used safely, it can make for a very good mod...

1. People skeereed of spray.
2. People are not informed / do their research.
3. Some people are idiots and do STUPID things with it.
4. It does run out.
5. People will always complain " you only beat me cause you sprayed."
6. Everyone will want to run you on the "motor" funny they always get upset when you say "fine take the blower belt off"
7. If you do it "RIGHT" the cost of a full nitrous setup isn't much cheaper than a SC.
8. You can build you kit up slowly. Generally the biggest ticket part is the kit.
9. You can drive around on 87 octane when you won't be spraying.
10. In normal driving still get the same MPG.
11. Torque spike is SO addictive.
12. Once you have nitrous.. hmmm how bout some boost on top of it. :D

For your application (01 cobra) I'd go with the NX nozzle kit, iceman, ford efi single nozzle, whatever it's been called right now.

does a device like that come with the kits? in other words, does the nx kit come with everything u need to run the nitrous, or would i need a bunch of extras?
No it doesn't come with Most kits. It's more of a safety device. less things to think about when spraying.
The nx kit comes with everthing ( other than nitrous and plugs) you need to put it on and go. However there are lots of things that are a good idea to have.
what you must have
Bottle
Feed line
solenoids ( nitrous, and fuel for a wet kit)
lines from fuel source to solenoid and lines from solenoids to injection point.
injection point (nossle, plate, fogger, etc)
assorted wiring.
relay
arming switch
activation switch ( generally a WOT switch)

things that are a good idea to have.
Bottle pressure guage (you want to tune for a certain psi and run at that)
heat source for bottle ( to get to desired psi)
window switch ( so the nitrous only sprays at the rpms you select, in case you miss a shift it's off, in case you mat it and it's on at 1krpm no puddle)

REAL good idea
get the car on a dyno to check af ratio.

well this is turnin out to look more expensive than i first thought when i started lookin at the kits. maybe i should stick to bolt-ons until i know more of what i want and plus i will want those mods to support a nitrous kit or blower when the time comes. thanks for all the info though at least i will know where to start lookin for kits down the road.

N2O is much cheaper and a lot of fun, untill it runs out, i have a 75 shot that is a lot of fun, its fun b/c i can take out lightly modded LS1s :nice: , i still use a button with my kit b/c im spinning the tires in 1st, (no point in hitting it if your not hookin) 2nd is button time. With the WOT i spun so bad in 1st and 2nd it was hurting me not helping,

any wass this is pretty much the same kit i have
