Nitto NT555's?

Hey guys, I was looking into getting the Nitto NT555 street tires. I was wondering if anyone is running them and how are they? Their rated pretty good as far as Dry Traction (9.9) Wet Traction (9.5) Cornering and Steering (9.5) And Treadwear is like an 8.6.

Also has anyone used them at the drag strip? Are they decent for a street tire? Because I plan on getting Drag Radials to mount on my 2 Cobra Rims in a month or so. Thanks for any help guys.

Get them, you won't be disappointed..great tires! they have great grip, look great, and have good tread life. I'll get them again when these ones wear out!

Nittos

Man buy these tires. They are the best tires ive ever bought. IM on my second set and i love them. The ride is great,quiet, and handle very well. As for the drag strip they are amazing. i have ran a 1.938 60 foot on these tires but i do have some suspension work too. Buy them and you'll love them.

I don't know why you just wouldn't go with Nitto Drag Radials. Nitto Street tires have a treadwear of 200. The drags are 100. They will hold up almost as long but they will mosty definately hook better.

Also, many on SN have complained about Nitto Street tires being dangerous in the cold. I have had my Nitto Drags in the cold and they were just fine. I wasn't worried at all.

I love mine, for every reason possible. I pulled a 2.10 60' with mine on a bone stock 98 gt auto. And if I had the power to do it, I'm sure they would go quite a bit lower.

Maybe they meant cold places. Your sig says Motor City, and I know Michigan is plenty cold. As a former New Englander, there's no way I'd run my Nittos past October. Wintertime was time for Blizzaks. Maybe it's just me.

Anyhow, back on topic... the Nittos are pretty nice tires for spirited driving. For the most part, the price is right, and you get pretty good grip too. You can beat it with other tires, but you're paying a good amount more too.

Haven't had any problems what so ever with my Nitto 555Rs in the cold, and extremely impressed with them in the wet. They survived CO "spring" and did great with Englands cold wet winters, they even did good on frost (I was too lazy to throw my stock wheels with Blizzaks on). They do so-so at the track... best I've been able to cut was a 2.0 60' and that was with about 60 degree weather. I average 2.1's on them and that was in the cooler months, I didn't get a chance to run them in the summer, but with my suspension and power I don't expect anything lower than a mid-1.9 on them. For an all around tire though... They are IMO the best mid-price tire out there. The best budget tire I've run was Khumo 712s.

A lot of people are raving about Nittos newest tire which supposedly fills a niche between the 555Rs and the 555DRs.

I love the Nitto DR's in wet areas too. Thoss things never spun me out. They actually kinda hooked.

I had them on my last Mustang and was impressed overall, but the grip on the track was anywhere what I expected. The BFG drag radials did much better, but they didn't last near as long. The NT555s are great looking tires and reasonably priced.

i have had them for about 4 years now i think. i pull 1.9x's all the time with them. not too shabby for stock size inexpensive tires. they are an improvement all around over the goodyears that came on my car.

Alright cool, Im definatley sold on them. Hows the treadwear? what does 300 mean?? It says for the NT555's Treadwear 300, and NT555R's Treadwear 100. But it says like 8.4 for treadwear on the NT555s. Thanks for everyones opinions and help

had them.

hated them for every one of the over 50k miles I put on them. They tramlined so bad it made driving on the interstate a job

Bought some Goodyear Eagle GT's (the new ones, not the HR's or the II's) and they are night and day difference

I don't think I'll ever buy a discount brand of tires again, especially Nitto's. They did have good tread life. I think we had just over 50k on them and they looked like this the day we had them removed:

Bigger the number, slower the wear. 400 will last a while, 200 less, 100 even less....and M/T's and BFG's are 0 or 00. That is like 1,000-2,000 miles. But they will hook enough to get a 10 second car to pull a 1.5 or better 60ft.
