so another tire question ha ha. im looking into getting new tires this fall ive been checking out the nitto's and also the bfg drag radial. i really do like the new nitto nt05 but it gets rainy here so i need some opinions on these two tires any one ran these let me know how you like them. or also some suggestions thanks guys
I run Falken Azenis which are almost as sticky as the dragradials (road race tire) yet can be driven in rain if necessary.. Drag radials are NOT meant to be driven in rain at all

That's where I'm at.Yeah, I lived in FL for 20 years, which explains it. If he was driving in a FL turd floater, then I would have to say that's a good all weather tire. Bradenton is a nice track. I had an ex-girlfriend from Larghetto, so I'm pretty familiar with that area too.

Both have kick ass tread patterns, but I do believe, and I could be wrong, the BFG has a wider footprint. The Nitto 315 has quite a narrow contact patch, I managed to stuff one on a 9 inch rim with not much issue or sidewall bulge
The best drag radial is the M/T drag radial. However, if you don't want the M/T, get the BFG. The Nitto Drag Radial is utterly worthless, and actually wears faster than the BFG in my experience.

Do you think the Nitto wore faster due to more/longer burnouts trying to compensate for its lack of performance?
Possibly, but more likely it's from poorer quality altogether.

There is a lot of information in this thread that I disagree with. I've run Nitto DR's on my car for nearly 10 yrs now and I really like them. My best 60' has been a 1.67 on them. They will easily last for over 10K miles if you don't race on them every week. If you run them above 25lbs or so on the street the center will wear out before the outsides of the tires will, I experienced this with both a 245-50-16 size and a 315-35-17 size. They have GREAT traction on wet roads. Obviously with any tire with a tread design like that of all DR's caution must be given when driving on any roads with standing water. If the roads are just damp/wet the nittos are great. For an all-out hooking DR, the MT is the best. The secret to getting good 60's on nittos is to get them good and hot and not "shock" them on the launch with a quick clutch dump. If you can get them to bit before shocking them with a big and abrupt power hit, they'll hook extremely well. I slip the clutch to avoid the big hit on them. Also, I never go below 17lbs of air in them either as traction becomes non-consistent in my experience.
I really like the Nt05 and from what I've read/heard it is shaping up to be a great tire. One thing I don't like but it may help you with your rain issue is the size of the grooves in the center of the tire... they are HUGE!
You just haven't run at Orlando Spin World. It's hard to get any tire to stick when there is grass growing up through the track.
