F-Bodies have had one available for at least seven years or more. Is there one available for Mustangs or do we just get the ole aluminum one?

There are ones available. Look in the classifieds on here I think there is still one in there for $400.00. There more of a custom piece than an aluminum one.

Search the forum for this because a few months ago there was a post about this, and a website that offered carbon fiber driveshafts for stangs, but I dont remember the site. All I remember is that when I went to the site to look at them, they were really expensive, like over $750. Good luck finding it man.

Hmm wonder how much they weight compared to aluminum driveshaft. I would want to know that before investing in one.

carbon fiber is strong and light. are you about to fork over $600+ for something you're not going to get much of a performance gain out of??

I think its worth it...

Carbon fiber drive-shaft for F-bodies is a weight savings of like 7.5lbs over stock...but they're only 2.5lbs lighter than aluminum... Is it worth an extra $500 for a savings of 2.5lbs of rotating mass/weight? Probably not. I mean saving the motor pounds of weight to turn, is worth alot to me, for over-all vehicle weight, and for less stress on the motor while helping more of those ponies reach the tires through the driveline. But if the carbon fiber one weighs like 4-5lbs less than the aluminum one, then yeah I might think about the investment. I don't know off the top of my head how much a motorsport alum. drive-shaft weighs. I'll have to hit up this need-4-speed site and do some homework. Thanks for the input fella's!

I like to think of it as part of a whole... like you can't just do heads on a motor, and get the most out of them. You need cams, and exhaust and intake to compliment the heads. The drive shaft is a part of the drive-line...its a compliment of that system which transfers the horsepower to the ground. Thats just the way I justify it to myself and my wallet!
