No covertible until next February?

I'm waiting for the vert regardless of other peoples opinion. I think it looks great (concept) I think the production version will not look much different than the fastback (other than no top). It's a vert or none at all. Midlife crisis happening and I want to cure it in a convertible with my bald head burning in the sun

I'm going to try photoshoping one for fun.

I didn't like the prototype vert, but the coupe only vaguely resembles the prtotype of itself.You can't pass judgement on something you haven't seen.If I have to wait until Feb 06 to get a vert GT, I guess I can wait a few more months and hopefully the cobra will be out.

It's a two seater only because they didn't install back seats. The proportions are the same. You can't see the back seats on the vert from a side-view anyway. Come on, use your imagination, it's not that hard.

I was thinking the same thing. If I have to wait until February for the vert, why not just wait a little longer for the cobra... No we are talking!

No, that's the concept car. You will have to change the proportions, round off the nose, stretch the center body, make the butt fatter and make quite a few other changes. Best wait for the real thing.

Me, I'll not buy another non-convert. I have a 65 Mustang convertible and my everyday driver is a tin-top (plastic, actually), and I'd much rather drive a softtop. Lower COG makes more fun to drive, and you can get in the outdoors when the weather cooperates. And what's the deal about a convertible in the winter? They have heaters, and fabric is a better insulator than metal.

Was the concept vert shorter than the concept fastback? The proportions between the concept fastback and the production fastback ended up being pretty close. Mostly the production car had bigger bumpers.

Hey, nice work. Yeah, I assume the windshield would have a tad more rake, and add small hump for the tonneau cover and that should be what it looks like.

Why do you say that? The current 99-04 Mustang convertible isn't really any nicer looking than the 2005/2006 Mustang convertible.

That's what makes this so great...if we all liked it, then there would be no variety in the world. I like it and as I mentioned earlier, it's a vert or nothing at all. I rented a 96 vert for my honeymoon and loved it and I think the 05 will be the best one yet since the 60's. Worth the wait IMO.

Well see when it comes out but I dont like the retro front end with no top however I love the retro front end with the swooping fastback. To me a vert should be sporty looking like a SN95 or a vette vert. Im not a big fan of the fox verts either for this very reason.

One of the big sales pitches for the SN95 was that the car was designed from the beginning to be a convertible. Back then Ford said that designing as a convertible meant much better results that in the previous Mustangs that were chop jobs.

Since it appears that Ford is still working on the Vert, possibily even after the intro of the '05, does that mean the new ones will be chop jobs again?

I don't buy the resourses, time, money stuff at all. It is simply new world marketing. VW, CHROMOCO, and others seem to all be doing it. Release the watered down version first. Then add big wheels. A year late put some scoops on it and offer a vert. Another year later make a high performance version. They must write this crap in some "Automotive Marketing 101" text!

I've driven the Fox body verts and the SN95 verts and they are both flexible fliers. The SN95 is a bit better but still not great IMO. I expect the new one to be quite a bit better. BMW took an extra year to get the vert of the latest generation 3 series out so I figure this is just normal operating procedure.

I am not a big fan of Mustang verts either. This car is either going to look nice as a vert or it's going to be a total flop. I also like the fastback Mustang better than the vert.

I love my 99 vert. I get "the look" when I drive it, so I assume others like "the look" as well. Unless the ragtop is really horrible (which I doubt) I'll skarf one up in a minute. There's nothing like blasting down the highway, the top down with the stereo crankin'. Hopefully, by this time next year I'll be putting in an order for my very own GT vert!

So, what you are saying is that this company called Global Technologies has the contract from Ford to build all the convertible tops for all the new 2005+ Mustangs that Ford will be manufacturing?
