Many years ago there was a recall for our ebrakes (sn95s) cause they wouldn't hold. I got mine fixed by the dealer but they did a really crappy job of fixing it. Now it goes all the way up to hold the brakes. Just some info that you may want to know...

when did you get your fix ?

You can get replacement cables from RockAuto.com. It's agoodsite with food prices IMO.

I just replaced my rear calipers and parking brake cables the other day. It was pretty easy actually. But my handbrake sticks up pretty high now for some reason?

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

guy one last question before I buying the cable, my E-Brake is still making click click, but it way to loose, this is cable problem right ? how do I replace the cable ? thanks

If your ebrake is loose like that, I would check for seized cables and calipers...

Yank the ebrake up, try to move the car. If it doesnt hold then It may be either the caliper or the ebrake mechanism itself.

When you climb under, unhook the cables from the calipers, and try to move them, if they are seized shut then you will need to replace them. Note that sometimes the calipers are seized as well, and the piston doesnt release.

To change the cables:

Unhook them from the calipers
Unbolt the brackets they are attached to(one on the body and one on the rear control arm)
Remove driveshaft
Unclip the cables from the brackets
Then wiggle them out from the crevices in the body

Then install new ones and reverse your procedure...

Took me about 2 hours with hand tools, working slowly on my back.

Hope this helps!

My mechanic he is checking and tell me get new cable, he charge 45 buck for labor. I need this job to be done right way, i dont have time to wait for shipping. do I need to get cable from dealer or part store ? thanks

Just an FYI... You should always leave your car in gear as a backup to the e-brake. Even on a steep hill, the gearbox can usually keep the car from rolling away with the e-brake off. However you should never rely on just one or the other.
