no job still. getting worried

still no job i apply at 15 places couple call backs but all positions filled. i already lost my heath insurance dental vision and i could lose my apt i have one month. even called the company i worked for and beg for my job back dont know what to do. anyone know in ILL around aurora,naperville,oswego where there are hiring

finding a job that isnt going to suck is difficult. I have a degree and it took me over 60 applications to get even a call. granted that one call led to a job it was very discouraging and time consuming. You just gotta keep spamming that resume/applications out as much as possible. Sometimes you just need to bite the bullit and flip hamburgers to pay the bills. There are no jobs out there. I've been looking on and off for a decent job ever since I got laid off from a really nice $42,000 a year job that I once had back almost 4 years ago. There's nothing out there but only $10 an hour $hit jobs. I ended up starting my own business and am struggling to make ends meet. I figure that if I'm going to make $250-$300 a week at a dead end low paying $10 an hour job, I'd rather make that type of money owning my own business.

There are no clues as to what you do for a living. If that information was present either in your post or public profile, someone might know of an opening that would be good for you.

While you are looking, be sure to file for unemployment if you were laid off. If you are eligible for unemployment, you are also eligible for food stamps and some limited healthcare. If you got fired for something you did, then you are probably out of luck.

No matter why you parted company with your last employer, the state unemployment office can help you find a job, or get you some assistance on getting re-trained to do a different one.

The internet is a marvelous tool for job searches. If you have a technical skill, the sites like www.Monster.com are a good place to start. Be prepared to re-locate in any case.

the only person with a location is Jrichker and i dont know about the rest of you guys but michigan is in the worst shape ever... i kno im on here alot.. but beleave me i had 24 weeks of unemployment, and with 8 weeks left im scared to death... ive been busting my ass all my buddys clam they can hook me up.. (never works).. the only job i turned down was that kurby vaccume job that i got made fun of for a week about.. i guess i just gotta take the next thing that comes my way..

well this is the advice I would give anybody in the world. CDL..CDL..CDL When I got out of high school I went into the marines didn't work for me after my divorce moved back to indiana worked security @ the hospital and part time @ Best Buy then I joined the police force and let me tell you this fun job always something new but I resigned to go to Las vegas PD. So in the meantime while I was waiting for the call from vegas I needed something to pay the bills so my brother suggested trucking... I was like WTF? So in a nut shell I went to memphis TN (swift) took the month long course passed I quit that and paid them back for the school($3,000 if you don't stay with the company for a year) went to work for CCX...once again worked there for three years learned alot drove doubles, & triples across the ohio turnpike. Now I work for Fedex Freight and let me tell you I love it. Ok so my point is on the police dept. I made 57,000 one year but thats over time, hospital, and my regular patrol shift. Now @ CCX I made 64,000 driving from IN to WIS every night. This year with 8months @ CCX and 4months @ Fed Ex i'll clear 72,000 and thats home everyday, weekends off, and I only pay $13.64 a week for FAMILY health, dental,& vision so by all means look into getting your CDL its worth it I only wish I would have done this as soon as I turned 21.

Sorry for the long post but there is so much money to be made in freight think about it everything you own,see, touch, smell, drive, & wear @ somepoint it was transported by a TRUCK. Also in closing your first year in trucking will be $hity so be prepared just hang in there and trust me it will work out.

yeah trucking is in high demand here... theres just no one that will hire with out 2 years experiance... if i came across a job that will hire and pay for the CDL ill jump on it in a heart beat.. my moms been at fed-ex for 16 years.. and tried to get me in and it was a No go.

Have you considered a 4 or 6 year enlistment in the Air Force or Navy? I spent 8 years in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and really liked it. The reason I got out was that I thought I had a better job outside. It didn’t turn out that way, but sometimes you take chances.

Everything is paid for or provided - housing, food, uniforms, etc. If you can show up for work on time, sober, with your shoes shined, neat uniform and a haircut, it is an easy job. If you can do that with a good attitude, and show some honest effort, you will do well.

If you decide to go that route, you will be tested to find out what you are good at. Make sure you get a written guarantee for any promises. Then you are off to basic training and tech training on your specialty.

CDL IS RIGHT!!! I run the logisitcs side of our company and I can tell you that every broker I deal with is looking for drivers. Most of them will help out with, if not totally pay for you training. It is an easy way to make a lot of money fast! Let me know where you are and if you are interested and I'm sure I can find you a company that is hiring.

find a job at a garage....I work for a shop. Started out as a Bit-ch....doing crap work (but I needed a job) and then he reaiized how handy I was with a wrench and made me a mechanic....got a nice raise, bought me a nice tool box and Now I love it....Just to bad I leave in April to go back to the Nuke plant....but there is big $$$ there

I saw a special that said Trucking is the most in demand job available right now. They said the country is 20,000 truckers short, and they expect in the next couple of years that number will be 40,000.
Some places are giving guys signing bonus's and full training.

If you aren't college educated open the newspaper and pick a trade you think you can do.

sounds like a great idea, we were just talken about that up there.. michigan is going through its own depression or somthing.. unemployment is at the all time high and the Big 3 make up the motor city detroit and when they hurt the people hurt, i had a great job as an electrician but when people that make money, people that work for fords chevy chrystler are losing there jobs and not buying houses it hurts all the companys threw-out michigan.. for example me.

This is pretty interesting to me in that I made a career switch in getting out of retail (forever, I hope) and getting into the medical field as a phlebotomist, thinking it'd be less stress and more pay - WRONG on both counts. Pay's the same, stress is just as bad as (if not worse than) being a retail manager. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Now, I'm having some crazy thoughts about getting back into law enforcement, either going back into the corrections gig or maybe as a cop with KCPD (when I move back to the KC area next year). The CDL license thing does sound kinda interesting in a way, but I can totally see myself getting fat and lazy within a short period of time, sitting on my duff and working a stickshift all day long. Didn't know that it paid out that kind of money, though. Something to keep in mind, I guess.

well actually over here @ fed ex you can work the dock if you want to so I do about five hours a week plus I try to keep a steady workout so far I bought a membership @ a local gym...LOL

Truck drivers don't make good money. My buddy's brother is a truck driver and he makes low wages. And he travels all around the country.

thats why he's not making any money I make good money and I only go one state over and come back the same day he must have a $hIty broker or work for swift or jb hunt (no offense) but trust me without trucks america stops if you still don't believe me as your riding to work look @ oposing traffic and tell me how many trucks you count in a 30 sec time span and tell me how many you see..

also I'm a LTL carrier so that also plays a big role. IMHO if you can't make decent money in trucking then I don't know what to tell ya also ask if he had any accidents, tickets, suspension, DUI, OWI, or if he's hazmat certified. Sometimes guys have situations like this and all they wanna do is bad mouth trucking because they messed up somewhere down the line.

Listen...truck driving pays good but he cant wait x amount of months to get paid.

He needs money now.

buddy...dont worry right now as you cant get kicked out unless the landlord files a complaint then gets you served then the judge needs to demand that you leave..that usally takes about 2 to 3 months in cook county. I would recommend going to any parts stores...they are alway hiring...I always see signs at Murrys and autozone.

I would also look into temp agencys.
Also, go to the local bars and ask for a night time position. with sports going on they need help. some of them pay cash and ofcourse you will meet chicks which will always help your situation.
