Here is a special treat I've shown Nobody yet, since I'm in the middle of comparing many of these for my article. this is a Fiore qaudrant on top of a MM quadrant, on top of a FORD RACING quadrant.
I've used and installed the ford racing, and the fiore piece, as well as a upr piece, which I couldn't uninstall in time (unfortunately) for this picture.
The Ford racing piece is pretty good. Although, Note it's longer design. This unit was designed to be used with an adjustable cable. A firewall adjuster is NOT offered.
I don't like adjusteable cables. When I was running this setup, I used a first gen steeda firewall adjuster with an oem fox clutch cable. The extra length on the quadrant caused the firewall adjuster to have to be turned in almost all the way to the firewall. It was "almost" too tight to use with a firewall adjuster, but not quite.
The fiore piece is much shorter. This unit landed with the firewall adjuster ring around the middle, give or take, which made me much more comfortable.
I'm going to have to rephoto soon with the UPR piece, which I have.
It'll prove my theory with triple hooks, which backs up a statement made earlier, and shot down. Triple hook quadrants are nearly useless (in the vast majority of street mustangs). The first hook grabs way too far forward, and the slack can't be dialed out. The furthest hooks is even further out than that ford racing quadrant hook, and is MUCH too tight (we blew out a brand new spec clutch in 3k miles because of that third hook....bro's car, he didn't know till it was too late) the only hook that will work is the middle hook. However, i've got to adjust the ring almost all the way out in all the cars i've installed it on to date, which, imo is kinda lousy placement of that third hook.
In my educated opinion, a triple or even double hook quadrant is not necessary if you get a well engineered single hook piece. In fact, the single hook quadrant will allow better placement and adjusteability, as you're not cramming mulitiple hooks onto one quadrant. Since an oem cable is an oem cable, and nearly all aftermarket parts are manufactored with compareable tolerances, a single hook will be all you should need, unless you're running a seriously custom setup. That's my opinion, and i'll stick to that, take care all.
