Alright, I was looking at a SC kit for my 03 gt but the funds just aren't there. So now I thinking Nitrous but I don't know exactly what's what. I've heard NOS and NX make good kits. I'm thinking a dry shot would work better than a wet w/ the stock plastic intake. Anyways, all opinions are welcome. :spot: :spot:

First, you need to understand the difference between a "wet" and "dry" kit. The dry kits are cheaper, simpler to install, etc. but are only acceptable if used with low HP shots. They do not add extra fuel to mix with the nitrous. The O2 in "NO2" then causes a lean condition. Lean = Mean but if pushed even a little too far it can be disasterous for your engine. Holes in the top of our cheap pistons and such things are known to occur.

I suggest a "wet" kit that add fuel also and keeps your A/F ratio in check (the NX kit above nice for this). The correct A/F keeps the temperatures down as well because as liquid vaporizes it absorbs heat (lowers the air temp). I'd probably set the jets for a 100HP shot and see how your plastic manifold holds up. I've heard of guys with BULLITT intakes shotting in 125 extra ponies worth of laughing gas, but that's starting to push it (in my opinion).

Have fun. Hook it up and for just a few hundred bucks, you'll be bustin' out mid 12's easy.

Thanks for the info. I checked out that kit, and it looks very reasonable but I'll probably check out the classifieds first....The only reason I was looking at a dry kit is b/c when I searched through old threads here, some members mentioned wet shots were more prone to backfires. Last, on a small shot say 75/100 is a dyno tune necessary?

WET System+Plastic Intake+a backfire=Bye, Bye intake
If you want to be safe run a DRY SYSTEM, and start from the smallest jet and as you feel more comfortable upgraded the jet to suit your needs. Also upgraded the spark plugs to at least one step colder and cooper.

Ahh forgot you don't need to retard timing with a 75shot, anything after that you need to retard 2 degrees for every 50shot (this is a golden rule of thumb)
Enjoy :D

Cool. What do you think of this kit? Edelbrock Performer EFI Nitrous dry kit for 1999-2004 Mustang GT. Edelbrock part number 70405

You won't backfire with the proper precautions in place. A wet kit IS safer than a dry kit by a long shot. Add a window switch and a fuel pressure safety switch to a wet kit and it'll run it's balls off without blowing anything up. Spark plugs are also key.

Buy my NX kit. IMO, it's the best and most complete system you can buy. It's the NX EFI kit w/ gen-x 2 upgrade, rpm switch, and remote bottle heater. Every nitrous option available... all the safety features, etc.
