Noisy tranny in brand new car, please help!

Hi Guys, this is the short and dirty version:
Got a v6 5 speed vert for my wife on Saturday (5 days ago) and it had 148 miles (which didn't sound like a lot at that time) . On Saturday night I noticed a "purring" sound when car idling (like a cat). This sound will go away when pressing the clutch and it is also noticeable when in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, specially at low revs.
My wife and I drive stick and her prior car for the last 7 years was a 99 corolla stick (that she is missing more and more now) with no problems and 95k miles.
Took it in to the dealer (stealer?) and they kept it until today. My wife went to pick it up and they gave her an invoice with the parts that they've changed. They are as follow: Disc ASY - CLU
Core return, Plate ASY - CL, Cylinder ASY. It also says Replaced clutch assembly and 4 hours of techs.
I just drove the car AND IT MAKES THE SAME NOISE AS BEFORE!!!!
PLEASE, can someone with a V6 5 speed tell me if this noise is normal before I go to the dealer tomorrow and ask for a full refund!!!?????
This was supposed to be the 1st anniversary gift for my wife and it turned into a nightmare so far, not even 5 days after buying it. Guys, I need moral support. Waiting for your input.

I've noticed mine makes some noise too with the clutch out which seems to be residing as more miles are accumulated, up to 600 miles now. I just think in my case it is normal but not sure about yours without comparing it to mine.

Thanks for the anwer.
I got 3 replies in other mustang forum by v6 5 speed owners with no sound at all with the clutch out.
I'm taking it to the dealer again today and I'll see what happens.

I hate to say it, but you purchased a lemon. I would NEVER buy the brand new body style V6 Mustang. All the 05's-07's are problematic vehicles. They all have problems. You were better off keeping your Corolla or buying a Japanese car than buying a new generation Mustang. Please don't get me wrong here. I LOVE the Mustang, but not the new generation Mustang. They have all had nothing but problems. I own an 02 V6 and an 01 GT and they don't have the problems that the newer generation Mustangs have. If I were you, I would trade it in and buy a used 99-04 Mustang. Ford needs to iron out all the problems associated with the 05-07 Mustang. When that will happen, I don't know?

Then why are you in this particular sub-forum? Don't come in here to bag on a person's choice of Mustang. I strongly suggest you adjust the nature of your postings. There will be no successive advice on this specific matter.

Okie Dokie. I guess that you didn't want me to fill the person in about all the different problems that others have been posting here in the forums about the 05-07 Mustangs? I was thinking about trading in my 02 V6 Mustang for a brand new 07 V6 Mustang, but I am now very hesitant about doing this after reading all the negative posts in here and in Edmunds.com about how many problems the new generation Mustangs have. I was only trying to give the poor guy some insight about his car. My post was not intended to bag him about his choice of Mustang. I'm sorry, but that was not my intention with my previous post.

the S197 is a new platform. your SN95 was riding on a platform designed in the 70s. i should hope they have things sorted out a little better after more than 20 years of building the same chassis.

the bottom line is this: unhappy people tell 10 people about their experiences. happy customers only tell one or none. that is the reason why it appears that there are so many problems with the new cars. in reality, there are few problems, and noting major at that. absolutley no reason to not purchase a new S197.

I have to agree with bigcat here. I will take his point one step further. If you run TSBs on any manufacturer or any vehicle that has gone through a complete redesign, you will find the TSBs increase immediatley following the release. If you need, I will locate specifics for you. Regardless of this being a BMW, MB, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Pontiac, etc.

I have had a 98 and 03 Mustang and can confirm your comment that problems with them were minimal. However, I have had LESS problems with my 05 than I did with my 03 GT.

If you pull TSBs on the initial year of the SN95 and compare them to the Foxbody, you will find a proportinate amount of TSBs to the redesign of the S197. Go one step further and ask the Fox guys; they will tell you that the SN95 is a POS.

You will need to keep in mind that this Mustang also had to bear the brunt of a production plant relocation as well. Adapting and designing a tooling and manufacturing line capable of assembling the redesigned Mustang has added to mix.

In the end, consider one HUGE fact, if shrink does indeed have a Mustang with substantial transmission problems, it is NOT Ford's issue as much as Tremec's. If you would like to dive into this issue, let me know. I will be happy to provide you with unbiased information concerning Tremec's transmission design and the mechanical issues that continue to pop up model year after model year, regardless of chassis design.

Don't be a hater my fellow Stanger and please don't make over generalized comments that educated, analytical data can slap down.

I have 2 06 mustangs one is a GT and the other is a v6(wifes she can't drive a stick) It's normal for the drive train to make some noise (nature of this manual trans.) we hace no troubles at ALL with these cars except for my GT making a noise in the rear, the clutch pack in the rear was not properly installed at the factory(additive to soak the clutch pack) and that is it no other problems...
except having to much fun driving them...
