I've been restoring a 65 falcon the last year and this year I'm going to drop a 5.0 efi motor in it with aod trans. The motor has been completely rebuilt, bored .030 over with decent flat top pistons. I've also added an E303 cam, 70mm bbk tb, gt40 "turbo swirl" heads, 1 3/4" headers, true duals with flowmasters, no ac or power steering, and then I ran out of money so I just ported the hell out of my stock intake and hope for the best. I will be putting a 9" rear with 3.73 or 3.55's in also. This car is mainly a cruiser, I have a drag car already and I'm not real interested in making it an absolute street/strip machine. This will be my daily driver, and a cruising car. BUT... its always fun to go fast. so what do you guys believe I'll make on the dyno? My guess is about 250ish hp and 290ish ftlbs am I going to be close? and what do you think I'll run in the 1/4? keep in mind this car probably wont hook up nearly as good as a fox body, but it will only weigh about 2800 lbs. when I take it up to run. whoevers closest gets a cookie. i'll have dyno results in about a month when i finally drop her in. and after that its test & tune.

I have a 65 Falcon that has a 5.0 with an AOD in it, but carbed. My motor is 5.0 shortblock, ported E7s, Trickflow Stg 1 cam, weiand stealth intake, 670 Holley, Hedman 88400 Shorty Headers, 2.5" X-Pipe w/ $15 Summit Racing mufflers, 8" Rear with 4.11s. AOD has a TransGo kit in it and a converter that was sold to me as being 2200 stall, but can only get it to 1800. I don't like to say my car runs exactly something since I haven't taken it to the track on a timed day, but according to all of the races I have been in, including the ones at the non-timed track day, it is an easy 13.3 car. Good luck getting it to weigh 2800. Mine weighed in at 2980. The AOD is heavy and the 9" even heavier than the 8". It weighed 2391 with the 6cyl and 3speed manual tranny. I did have some crap in the back, stereo junk, and have been working on some weight reduction, so will try and get a better weight sometime I guess. I have the v8 rear springs with 6cyl front springs and some of the $40 traction bars. For tires I am using Hankook Ventus HRIIs 245/50/16. I do not have any traction issues what-so-ever. The TFS cam probably helps that since it doesn't pull hard until 3k.

2800 was more of a generic number. and i meant without driver. i dont have the heavy ass front bench anymore either, so that will help. plus when i run i'll take out the other mustang bucket seat and the back seat.

gork, sounds like you have a nice set up there. i still have ALL 6cylinder suspension and brake parts, which are going to have to go. I've been putting off making any sort of plan with that. where did you get the "$40 traction bars"? I've been thinking about mustang 2 suspension parts and the granada disk break stuff. what did your v8 rear springs come from? i'm sure I could get v8 falcon springs from a resto catalog.

Car sounds pretty sweet!! It'll hook up just fine if you set it up to hook. As is, all you estimates sound pretty right on the money. With an AOD don't do anything less than the 3.70 gears. I feel that the 4.10's are best for an AOD. Maybe a set of 3.91's would be a nice "in between" compromise.

Those 1 3/4" headers sound too big for hte combo. You might want to look at something with 1 5/8" as the max diameter. Best headers for a Falcon are made by Doug Thourly. Not cheap, but the are VERY high quality stepped tube try-y's. They are as good as or better than 4 into 1 headers.

Any pics? EDIT: Just saw your link. DOH!! I gotta go check it out now.

That's a sweet little car. I have pics from the Syracuse Street Rod nationals from last summer where a guy had a black '63 with the formal roof like that and polished Torque Thrust wheels. Car was sweet too.

I'm a big Falcon fan myself. I've wanted a 64-65 Falcon Rachero for about 15 years.

I just swapped mine over to the v8 with drum front suspension, other than the springs. It stops surprisingly well, better than I would have expected it to, but I would still go disk if I had the option. I got the cheapy traction bars from Autozone, they are the generic silver Lakewood ones. You can see them in the picture. The v8 rear springs came from a local spring and axle place. I don't remember how much they were, but it was not too cheap. With the tires and gears I have my car will turn 111mph @ 6k in 3rd, I made sure it wouldn't go into overdrive. Pretty much perfectly geared for the 1/4. I still have the front bench seat in mine. Also discovered all of the stereo crap I had in it weighed in at around 110lb along with some other junk. I do have subframe connectors and both a monte carlo bar and lower belly bar. Here is a pic (dirty like usual):

yeah, I know. But they are the only falcon specific brand I could find until you posted. About 5 days late though. oh well, it'll work fine.

*oops, I double posted.*

gork1rogues, very nice. Mines always dirty to, and with the black paint it makes it even worse. In the daily driver months of the year I usually wash it once every three days with all the construction going on by my house.

90NotchBack, Nice car. I'm kind of looking for another 64/65 to make into a drag car. The one I race right now is my fathers car so I need my own. My friend has a nice 454 and powerglide w/transbreak for 2000ish that ran 10.20's with a full interiour and frame 87 monte carlo that I was planning on into my next race car. I dont think I could bring my self to do that though. fast is fast, but I still dont like to mix brands, even though I'm not brand loyal in the least.
