I just went through a long search result for the conversion. However some small details are left in the open. Here are my specs thus far. Car is an 1989 2.3 which I assume had MAF. Doner is an 1987 E150 which is speed density.

Questions:

1) Will upper Mustang intake fit lower truck intake?

2) Assuming I find 1989 parts (TB, MAF, tubing, TPS, intake, etc...) everything should just wire up to the stock 4 banger harnesses?

3) If so, all I will need is a V8 computer from an 89?

4) Will a V8 crossmember from a Cougar or T-bird fit the Mustang?

5) Do you know if the engine supports are the same from the truck 302, will Mustang supports bolt right up to the engine brackets?

6) Why do people recommend convertible engine supports?

7) How would I connect O2 sensors with long tube headers? Do 89+ EFI Mustangs have two O2 sensors?

8) Will having a 2.5 exhaust with no cats screw up any EFI parts?

Thanks very much to anyone who may help out. I am working on getting all the parts.

well i'll throw my $ .02 in

1) not sure exactly but i would say no

2) you will have to get an engine harness from a v8 car

3) Computer will need to be 89 up for mass air A9L or A9P would be recommended

4) Crossmember will have to come from a mustang

5) Get stang engine mounts truck ones are a differant bolt arrangement i think

6)Vert mounts are stiffer for a stock upgrade but polys are good too

7) Mustangs do have 2 O2 sensors and to use longtubes most people drill new holes for the O2's and weld in bungs closer to the engine

8) exhaust will be fine

Hey, not to trample the thread here but I never considered that! So at the very least I need longer wires? Don't they sell a extended adapter for this change?

02 sensors

when I did my long tubes I just bought some 02 extenders from I think brothersperformance. they were like $40 or so. It was just plug and play and beat the heck out of drilling and tapping and pluggin the old holes.

fyi, if any stock engine parts from a 94 GT will help ya, shoot me an email I got a bunch of stuff laying around.

good luck

Thanks Man! Carry on men!

1.) NO, although i think trick flow or holley uses truck based intake styling so one of their uppers may work. But why would you want to do this, the truck lower is restrictive anyway.

2.)Engine harness from V8 car

3.)Any 89-up computer would work if you are setting it up for mass air. If you have a 5-spd, try to get an A9L or A9S, if AOD, either an A9P or A9T would work.

4.)2.3L K-member is the same as V8 Mustang. I think the 5-spd Crossmember is the same while the A$LD is single hump

5.)need mustang mounts

6.)They are a bit stiffer

7.)either weld in new bungs or get extension harnesses

8.) exhaust ok

The 2.3 cross-member only has one "hump" for the exhaust :( It's amazing how hard the parts are to find around here. I guess I will have no choice but to buy some stuff from Ebay and wait for shipping *yuck*
