OK. So I finally blow the bucks for a new headunit for the 'stang. It's a 2000 GT conv. It has the AM/FM head unit with separate CD. I bought it new so know it does not have the Mach system. The unit is a new Pioneer 8600MP. Figure I want to play a few MP3s. SO like I said, I do the research and it looks like a cake walk to put this bad boy into the 'vert.
I buy the wiring harnesses, pull the head unit, pull the CD, pull the center dash panel, and suddenly discover an amp that is not supposed to be there. Furthermore, I find the wiring harness I just spent $30 on has nothing in common with the leads in the dash. S... back to CIrcuit CIty, back to Best Buy, round adn round three times adn... well, here I am.
Problem is, I see myself selling or trading this car in a year or two. I would like to be able to put the old stero system (as much as it sucks) back in there.
Has anyone out there solved this one?
I have more specifics on what is there, but do not want to get any lengthier in this post.
Thanks!

Nope. Been there, done that. I'll post a few photos later today.
Problem is the speaker connection coming out of the amp. If I could get a a female connector for that connection, I would OK.
Thanks!

OK. FINALLY get the time to get back to this and post the photos previously mentioned.
Two attachments:
Harness is what I believe to be the lead out to the speakers. I seem unable to find a fitting for this, so have been playing with individual pins. No go. Nada. Nothing.
Amp--Rear is the back side of the factory amp. Can someone tell me if the output ID'd by someone at a local Circuit City is in actuality the speaker output? It plugs into the lead in the harnes in the first photo.
Perhaps I simply misunderstand how this is wired. Cannot seem to find a reference wiring this beasty.
Anyone have an idea for how to test without damaging a speaker?
Thanks!

Already have it. The power lead fits, the speaker lead doesn't. I was unable to post the amp shot last evening. This is the rear of the factory amp.
Thanks for the link, I will poke around on the Metra site. My suspicion is this is a hard wire.
