not sure where else to ask this question about a fox tranny

is an auto out of a 91 gt the same as a 4cyl? just scored a workin tranny out of a 91 gt for a little 92 4 banger my girl has...

matt, sorry i wasnt sure if it was ok for this section, just dont know anyone in the fox section feel free to move

Nope. Different tranny altogether. The one in the GT is a non-electric AOD. The one in the 4 banger is the same as the ones they put in Thunderbird Turbo Coupes, Rangers and Aerostars. It's known as the A4LDE. IIRC, they also used it in Exploders in the 90's. It is almost completely controlled by the EEC.

how about the wiring harnesses for a 4cyl... completely different for a 5.0?

Which wiring harness? EEC? Yes, it's different. Body? Should be "close" to the same. (The interface for the "body" to "EEC" harnesses would prolly be different.)

damn im battin zero over here... oh well know neone who wants to trade a 4cyl auto tranny for a auto gt tranny LOL

its all good. my fault, evidently the research i did prior to purchase was very incorrect. i tried talking the lady into going a full 5.0 swap, but **** with these crazy gas prices, having a 4cyl fox wouldnt hurt... when its fixed, i told her we might as well dress it up and call it a day... thats it...
