notch in roller lifters

My roller lifters have a notch on one side of them, and i didnt pay attention to which way they came out. i was wondering if the notch goes in toward the middle or facing out when installing them? thanks

Most people say it doesn't matter. I usually put them in with the notches facing up.

mine were installed with the notch facing down from the factory

The Explorer shortblock I swapped into my car had them all facing random directions, so that's how my new ones are installed.
