Finally got the thing together. I sure hope it was worth it. Just need to find the right accesory belt, hook up the boost gauge, throw the electric fan back on, time it, and do final checks/adjustments. I did fire it up a minute ago, don't have the accesory belt on so just let it idle for a bit, at least it runs. Seems like it idles kinda rough though. Disapointed, in that it's very quiet, can't even hear the s/c

sweet. hows it sound?

also how was your install? i am thinking about buying one myself. im between a 331 n/a, or putting my expensive 306 dss internals in another block and blowing that now, or just a n/a 306

i figure its easiest to install it with my engine being out, mainly for tapping the oil pan and making sure no shavings are left.

read over your sound statement.

it shouldnt be quiet. my cousin had one and it was a perfect sound. not as loud as a vortech, not quiet, but noticeable at idle and screamed under boost.

I only had it running for a minute, just idling, it's pretty quiet right now, haven't even touched the throttle yet. The pcv on the drivers side is still like it was, the breather on the oil filler neck is just running down beside the air filter, I have the vapor filter that came with the kit on the line too.

As far as the install goes...talk to me or someone that has installed one recently before you do it. It will save you some trouble. The things most folks are concerned about, like tapping the pan, is very easy. The instructions are fair, alot needs to be added to them for a first time installer to make it easier.

Here's my thread in the power adders section describing some of the problems I ran into. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=522901

ill check that out.

i was there for my cousins first start-up with the blower. it started noticable sounding, and got louder in the first 5-10 minutes. it was the perfect sounding blower imo which is why i was going with it also.

no sound will turn me away to something else though. keep me or everyone updated on that part please.

what size injectors did you end up going with? you used an fmu also right?

did you ever find an alternate route without the smog pump on? i just got a shorter belt and threw mine (literally), then i sold the damn upr smog delete pulley i had. i think its ok to throw back on if-needed though.

Gutted the smog pump, cleaned/greased the rear bearing, and sealed it up. There was just no way the idler pulley would work, nowhere to bolt the alternator to. You have to have a pulley there for the belt routing and there's a support bracket that the alternator bolts to on the bottom of the smog pump.

Stock 19lb injectors, FMU is on, you can see it on the firewall there behind the bypass valve.

is that shipped?

i live in washington. i called there the other day about their 1650 ebay listing price /w a fuel pump or fmu. that makes it like 20 dollars more if thats shipped at dallas, plus ill get it in 2-3 days from cali.

not that it matters since it will be a week or two before i can even get my motor in, but i will sleep with it meanwhile :D

Your not gonna find the right belt with that ac delete. You will need a larger ps pump pulley and a smaller water pump pulley. You'll see what happens when you think you found the right belt and then the tensioner brings it down and it hits the water pump :) Its because the ps pump doesnt sit as high as the a/c used to and with the way the stock tensioner sits its VERY hard to get a belt to fit w/o swapping those 2 pulleys. I just pulled my blower and had the same problem your gonna have. fwiw, you would need an a/c delete thats for use with a blower. I had an asp delete kit and there is a tapped hole for the alt bracket.

I ended up putting the a/c compressor back on and used the stock (w/AC) belt. Works like a charm. I'll get an a/c delete pulley later.

Thanks everyone, it was alot of work. Now if I could get it to stop pinging under boost. Roads are damp so it just lights up the tires in any gear right now.

Be carfule, pinging and spinning tires(high rpms) results in holy pistons really fast.
