I was watching the show Pass Time on Speed channel last night. Sometimes they have some nice cars, well there was an 07 bmw I think it was the 335i series. Guy said he had some computer tuning done to it and thats all.....well that fawker cracked off a 12.X at 110 on street tires through the auto tranny.....geeez these new cars are nothing to joke about anymore

i was just down @ the track a few weeks ago and saw the same thing, Guy had a 335i and just a chip, he was running low 12s. Thats faster that its big brother the M3.

Wow, I'm shocked. I had no idea the 335 was so fast now. I looked up the specs, and it looks like the 2008 335i has a 300hp I6, turbocharged. Peak torque 300ft*lbs at an incredibly LOW 1400 rpm. Looks like no turbo lag at all, must be an itty bitty turbo.
I would imagine the chip just raises the boost pressure. With only 300hp, I'm guessing it is a low boost turbo system, around 5-6psi. Raise the boost to 10-12psi and hang on.

But we are talking about a car that runs 40-50k dollars new, so don't be too surprised that a mustang that was 22k when new can't keep up.

Oh I know that haha, I always stood behind that, but I think thats pretty neat anyways haha Guess I better make sure I am not messing around if I run into one at the track

yea i watch that show every night....tivo rocks! but that computer software is way more than a boost upgrade. there is a guy that comes into my shop with the same car and same software. it gives it more boost, more fuel, and alot more timing. shift points are increased dramatically also. by the way did you see that yellow 87 mustang run a mid 8 second pass while smoking the tires for the first 100 feet or so? wow!!! oh, and it was on drag radials. now that is an impressive car. it had a 625 chevy big block with two stages of nitrous.

yep now I'm just driving a slow mid 13's gas guzzling tire smoker.

True, though not always the fastest or best handling, our cars have always been fun as hell to drive.

Its a twin turbo if memory serves and I think it also has the variable vein technology like Porsche uses. It acts like a small turbo at low rpms and at higher boost levels the veins open up and the compressor size grows. Neat tech. I am sure they are very expensive to fix though.

German turbo cars respond very well to chips. My S4 TT became a beast with only a chip. Raised the boost so much that the stock inlet boot blew up and it ripped apart BOTH blow off valves

Ever tell you about the Ferrari I owned? Was an 84 Mondale (sp?) 8 four seater. Second day I had it I broke the $800 radiator hose. I didnt own that car long. Had a 944 Turbo once that lost its $5000 trans the second week I owned it How about when my brand new Corvette FRC decided to make its magnasteer stop working while in a right turn. Just locked up, couldnt straighten the wheel. Fortunatly there was a gas station there and I went right in the driveway... then I went directly to the rest room to clean up
