Yeah but the BMW does it whle being able to seat four, have a killer sound system with NAV, leather seats with A/C and heat and power, has warrenty, gets over 20 mpg, stops better, handles better.ya well think about it this way the amount of money you pay for the new 12.## beamer, you can have a low 9.## stang.

Its other cars that I think its funny that the Mustang has to fear them from a street racing standpoint. Who ever thought an Altima would be pushing close to 300 hp or that a Hyundai had 60 more horses then a new GT. There are alot of new high hp cheap toys out there. Wish Ford would hurry up and offer the GTs some serious power, at least as much as a Hyundai has or even a Cherokee with a 5.7![]()
well im sure i can put in half that amount into a gt such as mine run 12.##'s and still seat 4, im not knockin beamers by any means so dont take it that way i like them too, just 50 g's for a 12.## second car is crazy. but thats also beamers.

In this economy you may find a used C6 Z06 for 50KPeople are missing the point of a Bimmer... It's a complete package. We drive pony cars with cheap interior components and very basic parts. A new BMW... well it's a luxury car, and they are generally not characterized by their stock ETs. They are luxury cars, with expensive interior components, wheels, audio components, suspension, brakes, and all sorts of other creature comforts... The fact that this one knocked off a low 12 with just a chip is icing on the cake.
But if I had 50k, it would be going into a used E39 M5 and a C5 Z06. Perfect combination of cars, and they both haul ass.![]()

Its not about how fast the car is, its about the entire package. I just think it is very respectable that they have quick cars from the factory with no major work. Just a neat factaoid. I actually know someone that has one of these cars, stock, but still, sweet car none the less. I love my mustang to death and woudlnt trade it for a bmw because its just not me, but they are sweet cars none the less......but some have to evolve yet...only took me 5 years
Ever tell you about the Ferrari I owned? Was an 84 Mondale (sp?) 8 four seater. Second day I had it I broke the $800 radiator hose.I didnt own that car long. Had a 944 Turbo once that lost its $5000 trans the second week I owned it
How about when my brand new Corvette FRC decided to make its magnasteer stop working while in a right turn. Just locked up, couldnt straighten the wheel. Fortunatly there was a gas station there and I went right in the driveway... then I went directly to the rest room to clean up

that or power wheels

Let me add my 2 cents:
There are some in this thread who actually "get" it, and there are the typical American car owners who say "I can spend half as much as that and make my car go just as fast." Every once in a while, you have to lift your head out from the mud and muck and take a look around, or the world will pass you by.
Like a couple of people said, yes you are paying 50k for the car, but you're getting the total package. I never realized how much of a pile of crap (build wise) my mustang was until I got the 335. It's literally "night and day." Don't get me wrong, my mustang was more "fun" to drive and it did handle better than the bmw, but there was some serious suspension work done to it so it isn't a fair comparison. It is more comfortable, faster, quiter, built better, stops/brakes better, yadda yadda. You also have to remember that within that 50k purchase price is 4 years of FULL maintenance and warranty work, ALL inclusive, zero out of pocket.
Am I biased? Maybe, but at least I can give everyone a FAIR opinion because I own/owned both, so it isn't an opinion from someone only on one side of the fence.
The link one member posted was an old article about the Vishnu Procede, most likely the first generation of his incarnation. He's on the 3rd right about now, and flashes are on the horizon that will change the playing field. Currently, there are only 2 or 3 flashes available, but those require you to either send the ECU away, or pay Dinan with your first born. The game will change in N54 tuning very soon.
Take a minute to look at dragtimes.com, and look under "search," then "Bmw," then "335i." You will be in for a very unpleasant surprise. The current fastest 335i ran an 11.829 at 117.91 with (I believe) a piggyback tune (550 bux), maybe downpipes, an exhaust, dual cone intake, and DR's. That is fuggin fast people, pay attention. The best part about it is that they can be a total sleeper. You pull up to a stock-looking one, and he/she may just be idling quieter than you can hear. Maybe they even have an exhaust to add a little mystery to the equation. But once the turbos spool up, there's almost full torque at 2k rpms.
I still love mustangs, and I will have one again one day in the future, but don't be naive people in regards to what you don't know about or what you can't honestly comment about. Both are great cars, but they serve TOTALLY different purposes and are meant for two totally different MARKETS.
