O/R exhaust smoking?

Alright so it's been a good 8 months or so since installing the O/R H. It smoked a lot at first but I knew that it was simply the manufacturing oils and whatnot burning off. Well, its 8 months later and it's still smoking.

So do O/R exhausts permanently smoke or do I have another problem?

Well, is it a bluish smoke, white or a darker one? If its darker and usually only when you let off of the gas after a hard pull (mine does slightly, but mine also has 131k, so there is a tiny bit of oil or blue tint to the smoke). Remember there will be unburnt gas regardless of how lean the car is, so there should be smoke regardless after some hard pulls. How much smoke are you getting exactly?

If you have a tuner and a CAI, try pulling some WOT fuel out of it, but not too much. You probably just are running slightly too rich, IMO.

Smoking from where? If from the H-pipe itself, I can only guess that you have a leak in the pipe, or a leak from something directly above the H-pipe. If from the exhaust tips, I'd guess it's just from the uncatalyzed exhaust. Remember, black = gas, blue = oil, white = water.

I installed mine and it smoked a white color for one heat cycle. Nothing since.

What brand pipe are you using? Very slight possibility it may be bad quality?

You double check that the pipe is not hitting something and burning it? O2 sensor wire?

Color of the smoke?
White - coolant/condensation
Blue - oil
Black - fuel

Thanks for the replies. The smoke is white and I only notice it @ idle. It is coming from the tailpipes. I guess that its just going to be a common thing with an o/r exhaust.

BTW the midpipe is MAC and looked to be great quality prior to install.

If it doesn't smell (e.g. like antifreeze) it may just be normal condensating water vapor from the exhaust.

Does it smoke all the time (engine hot or cold, ambient hot or cold)?

Do you ever need to add coolant?
