O.T.: 5.4 Triton warranty-friendly tuner options?

Just had a question regarding the 5.4 Triton F-150.
Does anyone know which chips/ handheld tuners can be used on the truck w/o being detected by the dealer/voiding warranty? My friend was told that a regular chip would leave memory in the computer that a chip had been installed and would void the wqarranty, even if you take the chip out.
Does anyone know if this is true?

I know bullydog makes one that you can turn on/off but i dont know if that would void waranty or not. You might look at their website and see if they mention it anywhere.
