First off thanks to the guys who posted with the help on code po136 & where the banks are located , anyway I met a guy who said dont be ina big hurry to throw away $$$$ on new sensors ! they last a long time he said take then out have a look clean them good & try them again ... they were the back ones & easy to remove they were not all that dirty so I buffed them with a fine wheel buffer , sprayed them with some throttle cleaner , cleaned the wire conectors good also , put a dab of antizeez on the threads ..... reinstalled the senors which have over 100,000 miles & she is running like new no more codes ... I KNOW THE BOOKS SAY NEVER SPRAY ANYTHING ON THEM ! well it worked , so just thought I would pass it on as its an easy fix & that guy who gave me the idea said 90% of the time they just need a cleaning & has seen cars with 250,000 miles with the original 02 sensors , so much for the adds that say change them every 75,000 miles ............ PS the auto-store guys were of O-help couldnt even find the right ones for my car & prices for $53 to $73 long leads short leads & other nonsense so thats why I gave cleaning them a try , hope this helps ....

total :bs: , when they foul (just like sparkplugs) there fouled, there done. don't be cheap, buy new OEM ones and have no worries about cleaning O2 sensors, what a joke

also the rear ones are NOT Oxygen Sensors, they are Monitors to sea how the cats are working and most of you dont even run catted pipes anyway and the aft Monitors have really NO effect on performance

I thought that if they trigger the CEL for Catalyst efficiency below threshold, that it put your computer in open loop mode. It's just something I heard, and I thought my car felt different when my current MIL eliminators messed up on me once.

I've always been told to use nothing but air to clean a MAF sensor, and an o2. I've used a 'sensor safe' cleaner once before on my Focus' MAF, and it's never ran right since.

yes it will throw a MIL, never heard about the O/L mode for monitors and I dont think it will affect performance that much, not like a problem wth the O2's would
where's Mike at:D

you can use electrical contact cleaner on the MAF sensor with no problems, using TB cleaner will leave trash on there...

as for open loop, that would be really dumb... ford wouldnt not have ti go into open loop and cause it to dump fuel like that, fi anything it would just overheat the cats and give you bad gas milage and cause a lot more pollution...

the CEL you get for the rear "O2" sensors is very minor... dont worry about it, get mils or a tune to fix it.

randydandy

I knew when I posted I would get one randydandy type copy & paste ! but your post about being cheap means nothing as it wasnt meant for you  but I cant let guys like you get away with being  so this is for the decent guys :nono: so Randy have a nice day :hail2: all praise to Allah :hail2: Randy , now you may post anything as I wont answer :nono: thanks to the guys who helped & Randy get a life

normally I'd stay out of such an emotional debate but....

if the worst case scenario is someone whos sensor failed needs to buy new ones, then who cares if they try to clean them first? might as well give it a try, worst case get new ones if it doesn't work. just my .02
