K, so I read most of the exhaust threads here on the v6 forums. Still have questions. Here's my situation:

I have a 03 V6 mustang which got hit from the side of the back bumper, knocking off the bumper on the right side. Luckily, that was the ONLY damage. My insurance peeps wanted to charge me an outragious deductible to fix it, which would require a new bumper. I said, "Hell, I could find one and put it on myself!"

I found an 03 gt bumper which I installed myself.

Fast forward a year.

I'm finally ready to buy a GT mustang, and looking to sell my V6. First, though, I want to do some work to my old stang. Looking at putting dual exhaust since I already have a gt bumper. Kinda looks dumb driving around like I have been. So, here's my question:

Not looking to improve power, (if it does, cool). Will I need to buy a package deal with a new muffler altogther? Can I use the factory muffler and an X pipe kit? I've heard through these boards that I will lose low end power. Don't want that to happen, as I wanna sell a bad ass stang! Any help will do, and sorry for the long rant!

I would just put a GT takeoff catback on it, along with true dual midpipe fabricated by a muffler shop from just behind your stock cats. That is the cheapest solution, it doesn't sound bad after it is installed, and should give a slight performance improvement. You will also need to get the right-side muffler hanger and both exhaust tip hangers, for which your car already has the correct mounting holes.

Actually the cheapest way would be to replace the mufflre with a single in and dual out then have a muffler shop fab up another tail pipe out the rear. Then you are only buying a muffler and one short tail pipe and one hanger. You would probably not lose as much torque that way either since both banks would share a muffler.

Don't forget some whistle tips when you trick out da flows! Woooo Woooooo!

It would probably sound like a V6 Camaro. They have one pipe, one muffler and some have dual pipes out. They sound OK with the right muffler which could be because they only have one cat too.

For around 300 bucks, just buy the V6 Mac Catback....it pretty much takes care of everything, good sound, easy to install, looks good and slight power increase along with gas mileage.

I had a GT exhaust, along with a custom h-pipe made from a shop on my V6, it was 150 for the exhaust (had less than 100 miles on it) and the h-pipe ran me 150. So I wouldn't really say it's the cheapest route. Actually if I had my new exhaust right now, I'd sell my stock exhaust for cheap.

A lot of places don't charge that much. The shop I went to charged $100 to fabricate the midpipe (no crossover) and install the catback. The takeoff catback ran $100shipped, so the final price ran $225 to $250 after buying the additional hangers required. If you could find someone at the right place and the right time wanting to get rid of their stock catback, it would be even cheaper.
