OK, so this is my first post but I've read a lot here and I know that this community rocks!
My 1993 LX 5.0 5spd Convertible has, like many convertibles, had the cluth position switch bypassed in favor of a kill loop. Essentially a platic clip with a wire loop that fits the clutch position switch connector. This allows the car to be started without depressing the clutch, but also provides an easy way to prevent theft by removing the loop and thus disabling the starter.
Yesterday, my wife and I stopped for gas on the way home and after filling up, the car refused to start. No clicking, no turning over, nothing. On a prior occasion when working on the car, I had kicked this loop loose and the car behaved the same way. Replacing the clip that time allowed it to start. This time I figured I had done it again, but the clip was still in place. Fiddling with it and other connections under the dash did not allow the car to start. Ultimately, we push-started it and got home. Today I'm trying to find out what's going on and fix it.
So far, I've found that the issue appears to be somewhere between the ignition switch and this clip. The wire coming from the ignition switch that feeds the clutch position switch (in my case, this "kill loop") is white/pink (according to my Haynes manual and other wiring diagrams). It has 12v in the "start" position. The clutch position switch wire is red/lt. blue. It has 0v in the start position. *Somewhere* between the ignition switch and the clutch position switch, this wire mysteriously changes color. I need to find this, but have been unsuccessful.
The whole point of this thread is that I'm hoping someone else knows how these wires connect. They don't appear to go to the fuse block, or anywhere else for that matter. It's all tucked up under there where I can't see or feel reliably. Wiring diagrams don't indicate any other connections, but they are notoriously incomplete...
If anyone has any ideas, please advise. I'm pulling my non-existent hair out

. Am I even looking in the right spot? Should this be near the speedo cable?
