Odd transmission gear when powershifting to 3rd...

My Miata and my wife's 5.0 do the same thing.

If I miss a powershift from 2nd to 3rd and head toward 5th, the trans gets stuck in a region between 3rd and 5th which acts like neutral. I have to pull it out and then put it into a gear. After, both shift like normal with no obvious damage.

What happens?

PS. Don't tell my wife I powershift her Stang...

Mine used to do that, too. (my old T-5) I now have a new T-5 and haven't tried to see if it will do that yet. I haven't power shifted it yet, either, as it's just getting broken in.

Anyone else seen this?

How did it feel?

Did it seem like you had to pull it out of that wierd neutral gate and get it back into the real neutral so you could find a gear?

I am almost scared to powershift her car. The black one. The red one doesn't have a trans and the yellow one will take it...

Powershifting a T5 is like poking at a ticking time bomb with jumper cables...but hey thats just me....
