In my pile of parts i have a set of energy suspension rack bushings.. says its offset for lowered cars. I didnt buy these, just ogt em in a package with a entire front poly kit. What do these do and should i run them with my B springs?
they raise the steering rack in order to make the tie rods parallel to the control arms. improves steering geometry with lowered cars, but i've read not necessary, especially with bumpsteer kit.
Screw those stupid things. I tried to install them and they got all chewed up and destroyed no matter what I did. Since that one side has such a thin wall it kept catching on something and ripping. Piece of **** garbage. Not even worth my time to send back to summit. I used the grease and filed any problem spots down, pain in the ass crap. Then I go to the parts store and the guy looks at me like Im stupid when I ask for rack and pinion bushings. I hate stubbon old men who think they know everything, but its fun when you prove him wrong. Ran into the same problem with the 70 year old "Parts Pro" at Kragen who handed me a bag of needle bearings when I needed a pilot bearing.
I'd like to think that, lol, but each bearing was the thickness of a pencil and there were at least a dozen of them. Try squeezing that into the hole in the crank.
If you were going to use them, you should use the aluminum ones.
Bumpsteer kit is far easier to install, it was a serious PITA getting my offset rack bushings in.
