Oh the suspense!

Well time has come to get the winter project underway which consists of new shocks/struts,springs and CC plates. I had help in the form of my dad which is great to have another set of hands and opinions on things. Today we were only able to get the front done but it already looks great. Had some snags on the way in the form of size of sockets needed but a quick trip to Autozone fixed that. The back end gets done tomorrow then its off to get an alignment. Should be back and on the street again Tuesday! Here is a pic of the car with the new springs up front and the old in back still. Just a phone pic but it looks more drastic in person.

Also, this wire/line got streched out pretty good when I dropped the A-Arm, what is it and such? Also the tires have been doing a little bit of rubbing on it as well. Thanks.

Finally, here is the measurements I got before I started the project of different heights I wanted to check out.

Front fender to tire: 3 3/4"
Ground to sideskirt: 7 1/2"
Rear fender to tire 4"
Rear fender to ground 13"
Headers to ground 5"

I believe the wire is the ABS sensor, if i'm not mistaken.

Yes the wire is for the abs sensor. You can use a 1/4 box end wrench to remove it from the spindle. I would simply bend the bracket in ward to prevent the rubbing.

Why the tokico blues? I would have went with a MM starter box with bilstiens.

I got all of the parts new for $600 and the starter box is 1150. I really thought about it but it's the first car I have modified and I don't think I need the ultra top performace pieces on it. Plus, I also don't know what the drop rate on those springs are and I can't be having a huge drop in ride height. And I did bend it backwards, thanks guys for letting me know what it is though.

you'll

be fine with the tokico's I have had them on 2 different vehicles and have never had a problem...the bmw I has was lowered 1.25 and the stang is lowered 2 inches.

I bought those tokico's for my lowered '02 a few years back. Felt like I needed new shocks after only 1000 miles or so..

Well I hope for better results. I can't drop 600 for the best shocks and struts out there or damn close to it. But I did get it back from the alignment shop and dropped 350 more there. Awesome. BUT it's back and I'm happy with it. I'll clean it and get pics up probably on Sunday since I'm working till then. Not a huge drop so maybe I'll be ok though. 350 was for new steering rack bushings, tie rod end bushings, installing those and then the alignment. I didn't get the best of that I know but it was done by a quality shop and I feel good about that.

Ford used the Tokicos on the Bullitt and Mach 1, and maybe others, I'm not sure. If they're good enough for Ford OEM parts, I think it's safe to assume that they're pretty decent parts....

OP, I'm hoping to do this very project a few weeks from now. I haven't done it yet, but I'm strongly considering using my Christmas bonus to get the Eibach Pro Kit springs, Tokico blue shocks/struts, and some MM FLSFC's. I'm going to try and get by without CC plates, but I'll be ready to order them if I do.

Subframes are going on in Jan but since I had all of these parts laying around I figured I better use them and enjoy em I went ahead with the CC plates just for peace of mind and the fact that they have so much more capabilities than the 3 bolt stocks. As for springs I went with Ford C springs since long tubes and anything over a 1 1/2" drop would destroy mine where I live. I'll get some measurements on how low they are now tmw.

I'm pretty sure they used bilstiens on the mach. Unless I'm mistaken and they only used em on the cobras.

I have the Tokico Blues and I've had them installed for 20k or so now (kilometers). They are fine, but I did not experience an upgrade in ride/handling compared to properly functioning stock springs. The only reason for the replacement were because my stockers were dead. I'd go with the Blues again, but only if they were at a good price. Otherwise, I would probably go with the Bilsteins despite the significant price difference between the Blues.

Get some pics up when you finish the installation!

Car wash is happening tmw and I will have a new camera (Or I will have one available tomorrow as well), so tomorrow night I should have some up!

Here are the pics. The rear isn't quite where I want it but I'm not about to cut some of the springs to lower that. Besides, the rake look is starting to grow on me a bit. I just got my Cobra sideskirts too and will have them painted up soon! Next up will for sure be new headlights, just not sure which direction I will be going with those but definately not projectors. Had em before on the last mustang and hated them. Enjoy!
