Oil Breather On Blown Car?

Im currently running an oil breather on my blown mustang in place of the oil cap. My question is, is having an oil breather on a blown car any good? I have a working pcv. My car was dynoed with it on but I have heard without a breather the chance of the pcv blowing out the back of the intake. Should I just leave the breather on or is this no good?

you need breathers, but there is also a chance of them blowing out. My friend had a turbo mustang and be repeatedly blew the breathers off, the only thing i can suggest is to get some breathers that have really good flowing filters, like k&n and keep them clean ie the oil out of them. Without Positive Crankcase Ventilation, your motor would blow up.

take the hose that comes from the valve cover. Install an inline fuel filter (not a glass one, and it should be a decent size) and put it in between your valve cover and supercharger/turbo INLET (not the discharge) I did this with mine, no more idle problems, no more oill spray from the breather, and PCV system actaully works.

You can do this without a filter but you might get oil in your power adder.

I DONT GET SPRAYING OIL THOUGH? IM USING A KN AIR BREATHER.

I was getting mist coming out from mine when I had it. I hated having a breather, so I ditched that thing. It's a bandaid for fixing a problem on an EFI car, IMO

Jeesh, calm down mustang90, lol. I had the breathers also on my blown motor, and just thinking about it, I cant see how it would work without them. Keep them in, and go with the flow. If your not having any problems and they didnt say anything at the dyno then your fine. Try blackfox's idea since it sounds like a good one. I didnt think of that when I did my setup. Remember, your filters will not keep the oil away forever.

True, but my filter has no oil in it so far, from what I can see (it's white clear plastic) so it should last a long long time. I like it much better than my old oil dripping breather.

I wasnt disagreeing with you Black. By filters I meant the breathers and that although he may not have any oil yet, he will.

well u guys are right. i noticed oil on the underside of my hood. i need to put an oil cap on to eliminate this problem.

here is what I did, 3/8 inch inline fuel filter (same size as the hose) and ran it to the powerpipe.

wont that just spray oil into the power pipe? What size hose did you use and is that a glass filter?

3/8 Inch hose.
the fuel filter will help keep the oil out of the inlet powerpipe.
The fule filter is stainless steel.

I also have my baffel inside the top of my valvecovers
