In an '89 mass air system, what problems could there be with the computer system (including the mass air meter, fuel injectors, etc.) that would cause a cylinder "wash out" scenerio? I've got a 347 stroker motor, and am burning a ton of oil. I took an A9L computer from an '89 mustang, along with it's wiring harness, mass air meter, etc. I have since upgraded to 30# injectors, and a Ford Racing 70mm mass air meter calibrated for the 30# injectors. We have been dealing with this for years now (literally) and have no clue why it's burning. I had it rebuilt a few times now, so we are dead set on it being something other than mechanical with this stupid thing. We think (an R+D guy from ford is helping now, in addition to my pro. engine builder) that I may be giving a ton of fuel at idle, thus washing down the cylider walls, not allowing the piston rings to seal efficiently, allowing the oil to sneak right up into the cylinders. The ford R+D guy thinks that I'm not getting the correct "transfer function" with my mass air sensor. What does everyone think about this? And are there any other thoughts or suggestions??? ANYTHING!!! I don't know of my O2 sensors being changed any time recently, does anyone think this may have something to do with it...maybe not reading correctly or something? I've had it up to hear with this car, but have spent soooo much money on it that I just can't give up! Please, please help me!!!
