Oil capacity... two different answers.

Ok I just checked the service manual for a few years and found the 2001+ cars take 6 quarts with new filter and the 2000 and earlier cars take 5 quarts..

BTW do not trust the dipstick on our cars. it's not that accurate.

So if I put 6 quarts in my 2002 GT it won't be overfilled? My manual says 5 quarts. I put in 5.5, and it lands in the middle of the marks.

My 00 GT takes 5 quarts. My friend's 97 takes 6 quarts. Should be 5 for the 99-04 GT's.

I got that off of the online service manuals that ford provides for us. They are the most up to date service publication available.. So it should be more accurate than the owners manual. At least I hope so

I know the dipsticks are very inaccurate so I can't use that to verify this.. and I know the owners manuals can be wrong.. and I have seen service manuals wrong.. thats why ford only wants us to use the online ones, that way they can update them..
