So this morning I get up and change my oil to 6quarts with a fram filter. Drove it for about 10 miles then the service engine light came on. So i pulled over checked my oil and everthing looked fine. I got home and disconnect my battery and it work but after 5 mile the light came back on. Now ive had a prochamber for about 1 month with the O2 sims and never had a problem till today. What could of happend? I didnt touch anything else. Im afraid to take it to ford and it was so hard to get the pipe on and i dont want to pay the same guy 80 to put the stock back on just to have ford look at it. I bought the O2 sims at Rpmoutlet. Please help Im so mad i only got 9000 miles on the car.

why'd you title it oil change disaster if you don't know if it's the oil change that actually caused this?? anyway, go to autozone and pull the codes and see what they are. Come back with the codes and post it up. BTW, 6qtz is a bit much. 5 is sufficient.

Carefull, I went to Autozone and they told me I was having converter problems....Right My 5 speed needs a new torque converter..... :bs:

Maybe that extra quart is causing it?

our cars are suposed to have six quarts of oil in them......... At least thats what my manual says. I do agree , go somewhere and have them pull the codes....

No wonder you titled this "oil change disaster" ... you used a Fram filter! :nonono: Not that it has anything to do with your problem, but that's the worst filter money can buy, in case you didn't know.

What he (smart dude :D ) said. Fram = jizzunk. The motorcraft "820S" oil filter is the way to go...

My 02 GT says 5 qts in manual and ive checked it and double checked , my brothers 03 F150 4.6 holds six , and his manual says six , ive looked at both oil pans , they look the same , i pulled his dipstick and its shorter so his doesnt read full till you put six in it , makes ya wonder huh . Every mustang I have ever seen and I used to work at an oil change station , held 5 qts . But to me the only difference ive actually seen is in the length of the dipstick , so I dont guess its that big a deal . As for the check engine light , take it back and post the number of the code , I am sure someone here might be able to give a better explanation of it . If you dont have converters and have not installed MIL eliminators its probably that . It will read that the back converters have not reached proper operating temperature because the exhaust is flowing much faster and disipating the heat through the tail pipes better . I had my off road Hpipe on for a week before it triggered the light . Then I broke down and spent the money on the MILs .

My 01' Gt was 5 qts & my Cobra is 6 qts.
You probably just need new mil eliminators. Some people have had problems with mils going out. Is the MacProchamber a O/R x-pipe? I have only had Bassani so I'm not sure about the Mac. I used Dallas Mustang for the Mil Eliminators.

I agree, sounds like your mils went bad and it just so happened you had just changed the oil.

To address the oil capacity issue, Ford changed the capacity, and I assume the oil pan in mid 2002 (I believe). My 2003 holds 6 and the manual recommends 6.

I'm sure if you do a search you can get more info.

FYI, the new GT's will also have a 6 qt capacity.

Ok so tomarrow im going to get the code checked and ill post it. I heard that FRAM is suposed to be best filters. They last longer and filter to a smaller degree. Also is it dangerous for me to be driving around with the computer having an error cause if the computer reads a low exhaust gas temp wont it lean the mixture and if it leans the motor when its not supposted wont that create a detonation problem?
