Be careful...my dad went to WalMart and picked up a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1. He took his Vette to a shop near his house to have the oil changed. When the mechanic went to put the new oil in, the jug was full of water mixed with a little oil. They drained the little that was in the car replaced it with a new jug. The mechanic said that the silver seal on the top was not there so someone took the oil and replaced it with water then brought it back. Make sure you have a seal on your oil can if you buy it from a retail store.

You know what that really implies right? Wal-mart has terrible employees. "Hi, um ... I bought the wrong oil and just want my money back" WTF? And who wouldn't look at the container (in the return dept) to make sure that it hadn't been opened? Oh yeah, it's Wal-mart. Stealing is one thing ... but when the company fails to recognize the problem then re-stocks the product, someone buys it and could potentially destroy their motor .. that is a far worse problem IMO. :nonono:

On a different note:

The moron could have run his scheme a little better. Like putting his/her used oil in the container. Not that it would be any better in principle but at least it would be oil and not WATER. Damn ... people :nonono:

Thanks for the heads up though.

Thanks man, I just bought a 5-quart container from Walmart. I change my own oil so at most that would had made it in my engine is 0!!!

The cap has a plastic safety seal like booze does. If it's broken the product is not supposed to be put back up for resale. Also I would notice the missing foil.

Walmart sucks. Why would ANYONE trust them? They have raped our communities and are using slave labor. I rarely buy from them.

Oil and Christmas lights are it. And last year I had to take back my "colored" lights that were all white and me and an unenthusisastic employee looked through 5 boxes of "Made in China" colored lights before we found colored lights.

Well my dad is 65 years old so his days of changing his own oil are over...especially since he makes more money in retirement than he did working. :nice:

I think had the mechanic known my dad had just bought the oil and didn't remove the foil he would have suspected something. He just assume my dad had taken it off himself and didn't notice anything until he started adding it.

Did your dad work for GM? Because you can get laidoff there and still
get a paycheck forever...

That's still dangerous that water went through the internals of the engine. I would not be running that without seafoaming the crankcase first. Moisture on the bearings and guides will still be there and cause premature wear... Add i think 1/4 can of Seafoam to oil (dont overfill!), run for a few minutes, then drain and replace oil.

The same kind that replaces a snickers bar with a piece of doodoo at 7-11.

Is that like opening a snickers bar, adding a laxitive then putting them back together like nothing ever happened...Then feed them to a co-worker you dont like?

or does anyone think thats just mean?

:nice: or :notnice: ???

It wasn't much...not even a quart so most of it wound up in the pan. What little there was just evaportated once the engine hit operating temps.
