oil filler neck came off..what to use to put it back on?

i have a 98 gt with a pi swap.
i was installing my JLT ram air intake this morning,and when i finished i took it for a drive.when i got back i popped my hood and saw my oil cap/filler neck had come off of the valve/cam cover.i was told to clean it off real well and use some epoxy or plastic weld to install the neck back on.what do you guys think?
what caused it to come off was the jlt rai was sitting against the oil cap with a decent amount of pressure,and i guess when it got hot,it just popped out.
that is solved now.just did a lil trimming on the oil cap.so what to use to connect the oil filler neck back on the valve/cam cover?

You could try that "Plastic Weld" compound. I usually see it at the autopart stores. I've never used it though, so no promises made. I used to like JB Weld, but it never holds up on the applications I've used it for. If it were me, I'd just order some nice valve covers to replace the stockers.

*Another unlikely option would be to trim the remaining hole in the value cover, and take it to the autopart store and look for an oil cap the doesn't extend as far into the valve cover opening. Food for thought. Good luck!

how long do you think i should let it dry before i drive my car??yea i just wasn't sure if it would hold it in place after the engine got hot.i'ma scoop some up tomorrow.

yeah they use that sealant on dang near everything on the engine, it'll hold up to heat. as far as dry time, i truthfully don't know an exact time, but i believe mine was on for 6 hours before i got my car back. if it were me, i'd do it as soon as i got home from work & let it sit all evening & night. that would be PLENTY of time, way more than necessary i'd think
