My "Mustang Guy" in Hot-Lanta recommended using mid-octane gas rather than 93. Do y'all agree? Also, I've begun using Mobil 1 (always had great results on Corvettes). Do y'all like the oil choice?
In totally stock form, the opinion seems to be that 89 octane is what you want to run. While the engine is rated for 87, there have been a dyno test or 2 that shows that 89 produces a couple (3-5) extra HP. The thought is that the ECU pulls a little bit of timing out for the 87 to prevent knock, but that anything more than 89 is not needed unless you are running an agressive tune that is advancing the timing beyond stock. As to oil, I'm of the opinion that it's OK to run what you're comfortable with. IMHO, people make too much of an issue about which oil to run. As long as it's a quality oil with the right certifications, you're not going to have any problems.
