Well guys, seems like the car is losing some oil and it looks like its around the oil pan lower timing chain cover area. its covered in oil and i was wondering what you all think it might be. I started noticing it 3 months ago after the tech changed my oil and he said to keep an eye on it. Well i went to get an oil change today and the car was short about half a quart of oil. He was saying to pour some dye in the crankcase and it will bleed through where ever the leak is coming from exactly. They wanted to charge $140 for that service. Do you all know where I can get the dye to pour in the crankcase and see what the problem is and have you all had any problems with losing oil in the areas described.

Thanks guys

Autoparts store should carry engine oil dye. It will probably cost around $10 or more for a tiny little bottle. You will need a black light to pick up the dye though once you have poured it into your engine. From what you describe it could be leaking from the crank seal or possibly pan gasket.

yea possible from the crank seal, the tech said it looks mostly from the oil pan. So maybe the gasket is bad. Its just that when i drive the oil goes everywhere so its hard to see where its coming from.
