I've looked at Canton, Moroso, and Milodon oil pans and I'm not quite sure which one to go with. I'm looking for a good road race style oil pan. What company makes the best oil pan?

for a road race style pan you want something with trap doors and baffles, i think the canton pans have the best in that regard but i haven't looked at the latest offerings from milodon and moroso

I got the Moroso Road Race oil pan. P/N 20505

Don't mind the water/oil mix at the bottom of the pan, it's taken care of.
At least you can see the baffles and the doors.
I haven't driven the car yet with it, but it looks like it will get the job done!

I like Canton's windage tray that bolts to their stud girdle, it looks like a good design. I think I might end up with the Canton setup.

hmmm, i like both pans but the built-in crank scraper on the canton pan looks really nice and could be a deal breaker for me

there are all good pans, so pick the one you like, but i agree with bnickle, i would also go for the pan with a built in scraper.

The crank scraper is a nice feature, but plan ahead on this one; is the crank scraper stroker clearanced? If not you could be in for a surprise down the road when you decide to build that 408W
Not that you would destroy anything, the pan wouldn't simply fit. However the $, the $$!

Stroker clearance also goes for Windage trays, my Moroso windage tray isn't stroker clearneced, but I'm aware of for future builds...

if it isnt clearanced for a stroker motor, it will be obvious the minute you try to bolt the pan on. from that point on though it is just a matter of trimming the scraper rail to clear the crank and rods as needed.

Take note here of the bottom rear of the pan, this one fits motors with a main girdle, the center bottom portion has the "kicked out" center that allows the room needed for a girdle's studs. I went thru this in finding a pan to fit my 331 stroker in my 77 Comet. Not all the front sump pans work with girdles, unlike the rear sump models, even the stock Fox body "dual sump" pan clears a girdle.

ahhh yes, i believe that is also the one that has some interference problems with some inspection plates as well.

When I built the 393, the Canton pan scraper only needed a little tweaking. I am also running a Ford windage tray so that may be the reason I did the tweaking.

I happily discovered that the Canton pan was "stroker clearanced." It has a slightly lower rear drop, perhaps 3/16". Here is the old 351 pan that I had to clearance for the 393 (with the Ford windage tray) next to the 7 quart Canton:

It did take some heating and bending to get the Canton pickup positioned properly with the Ford windage tray. Hopefully a Canton windage tray matches better. I already owned the Ford tray so that is what I decided to use. It has its own crank scraper, that also needed some tweaking.

Not sure of the other pans, but the Canton ground clearance is excellent as its overall height is comparable to the stock pan.

The rear of the pan does touch the Lakewood scattershield's blocking plate. I didn't realize this until the car was assembled. So far it hasn't caused a problem.
