I am running a 351w in a 85 foxbody. It’s stroked to a 418ci . I run a front and mid engine plate setup with engine limiters on both sides. I use a main cap girdle and a stud girdle kit on the top end. It’s an all motor setup no boost or nitrous runs 10.50’s. My issue is I’ve had 2 different oil pans welds crack. First pan was a jegs brand and second pan was a canton oil pan. Both cracked on weld seams . Just curious if anyone has had or heard of this problem.

Can I ask the location of the weld(s) that cracked? Same spot different spot(s) between the two pans and where specifically did they crack.

The jegs pan cracked on the bottom right side along the weld facing the passenger door. The canton pan cracked on a weld joint at the bottom back side of the pan about 3 inches to the right of the drain plug. I checked the jegs pan inside after it cracked. There wasn’t any contact with anything. I haven’t got this pan off yet to check the inside for any issues. I just don’t know if my motor is making too much vacuum or something. I have an oil catch can with a breather on top with hoses from both valve covers. I built the car in 2016. The first pan split right after the finish line after a run back in 2019. The canton pan has been on since 2019 with no issues till now. Definitely time in between each one just not sure what keeps causing it. I thought maybe the harmonics of the engine but not sure. I read on one forum that over tightening the drain plug can crack pan welds.

Not too many people running front and mid plates on here. This is mostly a street car forum. You might want to go ask on yellowbullet or something like that.
