oil sending unit

wondering if i have a bad oil sending unit or if the prob is in the wiring....from my understanding the factory(which is what i have) is either "on" or "off" as far a reading oil press goes...sometimes int he mornings i crank my car and the needle doesnt go quiet to its usual position, but almost...lets say that the needle is normally b/w the "m" and the "a" in "normal"....lately it goes only the the "m" the after a minute or so of driving it rises to its usual position....i have alao noticed that when i idle my battery needle draps a little, along with the oil press needle but when i pop the gas both needles rise again...just wondering if battery ooutput has affect on the oil press reading...any help appreciated im kinda up tight about this.

oh yeah motor has only 7k miles on it (dss 306)

I had a problem with my oil press. guage pegging (maxing out) also had a coolant temp jumping, and had the amp guage thing. I found out I had a bad ground (also would not let the fans turn on too much amp draw). I would start there and get a mech. guage to hook up and make sure, better safe than sorry with oil press. if you have any doubt.
