Sometimes they do go weak, at least according to some posts I have seen here. What happens is the close tolerances of the pump open up, which is due to normal wear or debris in the oil. Or, the relief spring can get worn and weak. Possibilities, even if not likely.

Can you talk to the person who built the motor? The reliability of that person can affect what you suspect. For example, a professional builder probably used the correct bearings and used the gaskets on the pump/pickup. If it was built by some rookie kid (no offense to any young guys out there), then I would suspect the stupid mistakes first.

What ever the cause though the pan should be pulled to find the reason. Driving with that low of oil pressure is pretty sketchy.

Good luck

vristang, read the whole thread... It's the original motor with 36,000 miles on it. I doubt he could figure out what maching put his motor together in the Ford factory... and talk to it for that matter.

Change out the filter...could be a worth a shot..I had a bad experience with a filter and pressure once some time back. I am also under the assumption that the oil was changed imediately after the heads and intake were put in place...there would very likely be some serious contamination of the oil with coolant during the swap...quite a bad thing for the bearings.

Actually I had read it all, a couple of times. But I have been reading alot of threads lately and things tend to get jumbled in my brain.

Hope you find the problem quickly Load71
