oil pressure

I have recently assembled and installed a 351 c 4v. Mods include forged pistons and rods, crane cam kit, crane hydraulic lifters, crane roller rockers, hardened push rods, push rod guide plates, high volume oil pump. to mention a few. Well I'm having an oil pressure problem the engine has been started a few times and driven around the block once. At first I thought it was a faulty sending unit but it's not. At cold startup it has about 10 psi but as it warms up it drops to 0. At no time is there any oil at the rocker assemblies. I have removed the pump twice and checked it out, no problems found. When I remove the distributor and turn the pump with a drill it is moving oil because when I stop I can hear oil draining back to the pan. Any input appreciated.

Hopefully when the machine shop did there work they might have forgotten to put an oil galley plug back in. Or worse yet your clearances are just way to loose, but they would have to be way loose to cause this problem. Hence going back I do think its a galley plug missing. Also are you checking yor oil pressure with a mechanical gauge?

Yes I am using a mechanical guage The clearances are all within tolerance
and I checked the four galley plugs in the block two in front and two in back before assembly. Do you know if these four are the only plugs???

Just a thought, but you did remember to use a gasket in between the pickup tube and the oil pump didn't you? Also, did you check the pan-to-pump clearance?

WITH ONLY 10 PSI you have an open galley plug. look behing the timing chain and in the lifter valley. when you took out the dist. and turned the pump with a drill you should have at least 30 to 40 psi with a high volume pump. If they cooked and tanked the block, make shur all the plugs are still tight, dont take chances, pull the motor back out , put it on the stand and find the internal leak before all your new parts are junk.

Thanks everyone for the input I found the problem today it was the lifter diameter I ordered a cam and lifter kit from Summit and the cam was correct but after measuring the lifters I found the diameter is 30 thousands less than what they should be. I should have caught this on original assembly but I missed it. And Summit says they can do nothing as they have been installed and run in the engine. So Summit has lost any future buisness from me.

good you found the problem but it is not summits fault you screwed up. what are they going to do with lifters that are run. Think about it. I spent about 13 grand with them on my car and yes I screwed up to but I also ate it.
Make shur there good and sell them on ebay!
