i built the motor in my sig. about 1/2 a year ago and put a mellings high volume oil pump in it. the motor was intended for a 71 truck and it had a different oil pan.either a front or rear sump, i forgot. anyway i saw somebody type that with the stock oil pans that the high volume pump would suck all the oil out at high rpms and screw my stuff up. is this true and if so, how much bigger of a pan do i need

This is true. If at high RPM for an extended period the high volume pump can suck out alot of oil out of the stock pan, and starve the pump and engine of oil. NOT GOOD! On the street you are probably safe but your pushing it a bit. I alway's say that if you are running a HV pump you should have atleast a 7QT pan on your engine just to be safe. Company's like Milodon, Canton, and Moroso make good pan's and matching pick up's to fit your stang. For the small price of a 7QT Pan & Pick Up it make's no scense not to have one on your engine. If your car is lowered you will want to look at getting a kick out sump instead of a deep sump to prevent ground clearence problems.
