It needs to go inline where you "#1" is. And the arrow on the seperator (flow direction) should point toward the T adapter.

You MAY notice a little better fuel economy. And your engine should run better if you had lots of blow-by before.
You shouldnt notice much difference if you dont have a lot of blowby. And if you do, the separator wont help much.
In all seriousness, you probably wont notice anything but you feel good to see the trap contain oil that otherwise would be gooing up your intake.
