Planning to install FRPP Boss 302 oil cooler in 2012 GT soon and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on cooler install and oil temp monitoring? Would love to see some more track guys post their approaches and results!

I've not heard anything negative about FRPP cooler but if anyone has any horror stories I'd love to hear them before I install!

I too am interested in this. I am planning on installing the oil cooler next and I am wrestling with what weight oil I am going to use. I know that the Boss calls for heavier oil to deal with its track oriented nature. I am not nice to my car, but I don't abuse it like constant high revs at the road course yet. I am thinking about using a 5-30, just to give my engine a little fudge factor on the street.

I don't know about a multi-grade change for daily driver/track car? The boss oil system is an entirely different beast. So you are basically hoping to select a multi grade that can handle a larger range of operating conditions? I'm likely to change oil in preparation for a track day. Logic makes sense, but there are so many variables! I was hoping to pick the minds of somebody like Rehegan racing or somebody to get their opinion.

One other point we should consider:
Will we require oil accumulator such as accusump? I know the 4.6s sure as hell needed it.
Should we consider a more appropriate pan such as boss 302 and will that allow us to avoid use of accumulator?

I think I am going to get some oil pressure and temp monitoring on board and start experimenting....

The oil pan that I would like to get, eventually, is this: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=12061
In my forum and internet stalking over the last month or so, I ran across an article about the oil in the coyote motor. The Ford engineer was saying that they recommend installing the oil cooler for any Mustang that goes on a road course. I think that I over heated my oil the other day when I was goofing off in the corners. My CEL came on after I had been keeping the engine at >4K for a prolonged period and after reading what the Ford engineer was saying about the coyote motor, ie the motor needs the oil cooler for the road course, I am going to get it for my next modification. While I don't think that I need a 15W50 for the street, I do think that my car will be a safer if I put a 5W30 in it vs the 5W20. In any case, I'm not going to drive it quite as hard until I get an oil cooler on it. This Saturday I will be getting my OBDII Bluetooth adapter in and I want to see what I can monitor in the motor with that. I'm pretty geeked about this :)
