OK if I were you i'd first contact a few shops that are mod motor guru's in you area...that will cut down on extra costs like shipping etc... 2 that i know of in Mich that are top notch are
www.modularperformance.com
www.vtengines.com
Both offer a 5.0 modular Big Bore shortblock or even longblocks with P&P'd heads as well as Blower Cams.
Your gonna also need to address your tranny and fuel system to handle the 600 or so HP you want to make.
Last but not least is your suspension..you will definately need to go to a dedicated drag suspension if you plan to go that route with that much HP...plus a good set of drag wheels/tires will help.
You really need to contact a shop and get a plan...asking here can get you some comical answers but only a few can actually relate to dropping 10G's in a car thats 10 years old.

Oh forgot to add an aftermarket intake will be beneficial at those power levels...such as a Reichard Racing or Fox Lake P-51 or the old faithful ported Bullitt Intake.

VT stage 3 heads (full porting), VT stage 3 cams (get someone to custom blower grind them for you), 3.73 gears, forged internals, Kooks long tube headers, SLP loudmouth catback, and x-pipe, toss what ever blower you have on top, and maybe a hit of nitrous on that. Thats what I would do to my '98 if I had 10K to spend, and it wasnt my daily driver. Just my $.02
