What is a fuel pump eccentric? And do I need one........

if you run a mechaincal pump,you need one.It bolts onto the center of the cam and its offset so it "pumps" a arm on the fuel pump as it rotates.

only if you're going to run a mechanical fuel pump. And there were at least three that Ford used on the Pushrod V8's. Two were cast iron solid 1 piece in two thicknesses and a stamped steel 2 piece that was the same thickness as the narrower of the two 1 pc. eccentrics. The 2pc steel unit has a tab that fits into the cam gear pin hole, the solids need a longer cam drive pin to engaged them.
