ok cost of switching GT to Lx

is this going to be a difficult swap? when I got to get my car painted I want to just make it a LX IMO I find GT's ugly.

The Sideskirts and the rear bumper and the front of my car how much would that cost to get converted over to LX?

how much weight would I save?

and converting Leather to Cloth anybody interested in trading me my leather seats and rear seat that is leather to just plain cloth? only problem is driver seat is torn everything else is near mint

How good a condition are the sideskirts - I am highly interested if you want to sell them! Mine have been damaged, more so on the drivers than passengers.

Not it is not going to be a difficult swap though. Remove all the paneling from your GT. You will have to get the lx door and panel moldings because the lack of the sideskirt will make it look funny at the back part of the door not to mention the front bumper won't line up correctly when you do get the lx moldings. The hatch holes are setup slightly different from the lx hatch (don;t know how involved of a swap you want), and that's about it. It isn't simply ripping things off, it's just replacing the moldings basically with the lx ones, but the bumper has to go as well like I said. Don't quote me on the weight but I believe a complete GT compared to an lx is about 200 pounds.

As for the GT being ugly - now i'de have to seriously disagree with you on that one :D

front and rear bumper covers and all side moldings....u need to drill added holes in the hatch for an LX wing, and remove the sideskirt mounting brackets from the sides and rear bumper.

after handling all GT body parts, theres no way you can save 200lbs. weight savings is not significant enough to be a solid reason to switch. if you do it, do it because of the look

well everything is in good shape on my car.

the sideskirts have no cracks no holes no nothing just needin paint.

how much do you think a body shop would charge for the swap?

everypart is near mint
You're a lucky man, my GT looks like complete **** but due to my efforts it sure as can be doesn't run like a 271k longblock :)
What would you be doing with the GT parts after the swap???

Also a body shop would probably just charge you for labor of installing lx parts along with the cost of the lx parts. So basically picture your car as an lx with bad body damage all-around and the body shop is going to replace all of your lx parts with new ones and fill in any holes and such - then there is the paint shop next.

Got the idea?

I dont honestly care about weight savings. I just love the clean look of a LX.

87GT what do you mean with this

"So basically picture your car as an lx with bad body damage all-around "

id just do the body parts myself and have the paintshop fill up the holes.

my bad for asking how much it would cost lol

all the body parts I'd sell.

and there all in great shape just need paint. I have new fogs in the front bumper, and i got a few cracks but that could be easily fixed. The sideskirts are in great shape as well with the rear bumper they'd just all need paint to match your car. I want to sell my leather and go cloth as well.

no way, this car has to many good things going for it and I truly love the car. Everything works right, good running NEW A/C and ive dumped plenty of money into it.

just dont like the IMO hickish looking side effects and etc. or the big bumper and I want some 2.5 Tail pipes stickin out

I like the gt look but I wanted the pipes sticking out the back too. Easy solution: Cobra bumper. The best of both worlds imo.

I've always liked the clean look of the LX, I will probally convert mine someday. I would keep the GT wing, but the rest has to go. From what I have heard, the biggest problems is all the holes where the molding brakets went through on the sides.
