I have an 07 mustang gt and im debating on either an H or an X pipe...i will probably go with a stainless version of pypes h or x. My first question is, should i go offroad or cats? number 2 is if i do go offroad do the cats just unbolt from the headers or do they have to be cut off? number 3 if i go offroad do i need to buy mil eliminators or can i use my SCT Xcal 2 to turn off the no cat check engine lights....and number 4 (lol sorry im a newb to this car) do i need to tune again with an offroad x or h? Thank you all in advance and sorry for the long and newbasaurus post

1: Offroad or keeping the cats really depends on you. If you don't have a problem with having to put them back on again than by all means go for it, that's pretty much the only way to see a hp gain from the exhaust (the stock exhaust flows extremely well).
2: That depends on what kind of exhaust you go with. A lot of off road h/x-pipes require you to cut the cats out to bolt up the new pipe. Also, more than a few such a the one I have (bassani modular x-pipe) don't require you to cut anything.
3: Most sct tuners such as bamachips and brenspeed turn off the cats by default when they ship out their xcal 2.
4: Last but not least, no, you should not have to retune your computer it's not that signifigant of a change that would require a reflash.

Whats the difference between the the X or H pipe besides shape, which is better?

Srt2stang25, You can use your SCT to turn the rear O2's off. Also you shouldn't have to cut your cats off because the cats are part of the stock mid-pipe which you would be replacing with the pypes version you choose.

Ranger04, For performance purposes either an X or an H will net you about the same amount of horsepower, but they sound totally differen't. That is the main difference, otherwise its just a matter of opinion.

X pipe is better suited with straight through muffler(or no mufflers)and produces a raspy sound.
H pipe is better suited for chambered mufflers and produces a deeper more muscle car sound.

How do u turn off the rear o2 with the sct xcal-2 i cant seem to find that option

with the newer xcal's YOU can't. the need to be pre-programmed with that option. from what I hear the older ones had the ability to turn them off by the end user but not any more. like I said though most tuners turn them off automatically even if you don't request it.

This must be done by the tuner. Bamachips and Brenspeed both turn them off with every tune.
